here in ‘merica we’d say “we’re rooting for you” but i understand that means something else in oztralya :D |
Don't you hate it when you lend somebody a little of cash after them saying "I wouldn't ask if I wasn't skint". They pay back fine but then a few weeks later they're asking again but for just a little bit more. I cut that shit soon as she was asking for the second time.
What is that? I ain't a bank. I'll lend friends money if they need it but don't start making it every other week. |

that way you don’t have to be pissed off when they don’t pay you back |
Aye, I usually follow that rule. Like I said she did pay us back but I'm not wanting to make a bit of lending money to the same person.

Have you ever tried giving a thought to what the dog might prefer listening to? :D |

Does anyone remember the Sonic Christmas Swap? Where board members were pared up and gifts exchanged? I thought we had a couple of those threads from back in the day, but I can’t find them???
Perhaps the search feature isn’t correctly working today? |

Just attended a video conference to talk about a translation I had drafted with a colleague for university. There was another group still in talks before us. I logged off for a moment to solve a few technical difficulties. When I came back, they were still talking, but one of the team members was missing.
When the tutor said goodbye to the team, she added "And I hope your colleague will schwurbel less next time". "Schwurbeln" or to "schwurbel" originally meant "to talk nonsense" in German. But in recent history, it's become synonymous with spreading disinformation or conspiracy theories about the Covid-situation. Part of me was amused by the sheer bizarreness of something like that coming up in a conversation about an unrelated translation process, another part of me was elated I had apparently missed the BS-storm. People be losing their goddamn minds right now. |
If you're interested: I'm streaming a 2-hour-long DJ-set in 3 1/2 hours. Given the time of the year, I'm spinning lots of dreamy/ethereal stuff. All kinds of genres. There's a good emphasis on Shoegaze, Dreampop, Folk, Piano Jazz, Cabaret Jazz and Post-Punk. But you'll also hear a few old crooners. It's joviality, pathos, tranquility and heartache condensed into 2 hours.

Very much so. Their unsung masterpiece no less. ;) |
Thank god it's Christmas? I jest. Actually one of few songs by them I actually loathe.

Don't like it either. Generally, I kept it low-key with the overt Christmas-stuff. Certain songs are somewhat winter-themed, others have that tranquil atmosphere - so it's still somewhat thematically relevant. There'll be a few bells here and there though. It's interesting how much music sounds somewhat Christmas-y without actually being about Christmas. |
It's on now
