This may sound weird, but I can't remember if I've heard the Peels. It's been years since I listened to Pavement regularly. But I consider Watery, Domestic to be their best moment. And yes, Texas Never Whispers is goddamn awesome.
It's funny that the critics pretty much unanimously though it to be a complete flop. I don't get that. I just wish Greenlander had somehow wound up on that EP.
You should get Luxe. Its worth it for the packaging alone, and it definitely sounds better than the initial CD version, which I always thought sounded a bit thin. It's the best of their reissues from what I remember, but like I said its been a while. Something of an emotional record for me. Throw W,D on top and its almost too nostalgic to bear. |
