Pusha T "My Name Is My Name" album cover

deluxe:

Surprised that Hall of Fame has shaped up to be a fine, agreeable, and refreshing album, reminiscent of Graduation and Late Reg. with alright lyrics and one of the best pussy-related skits I've heard in some time.

I like it. A lot.

louder 09.03.2013 06:45 AM

Danny Brown "OLD" album cover

hahahahaha.

louder 09.03.2013 09:27 AM

i think that American Gangster might be the greatest late-career album in hip-hop.

Fishscale and Life Is Good come close, AG is the most consistent though.

Magna Carta might not be as incredible, but at least Jay hasn't lost his voice, as opposed to Wayne and Eminem who simply don't sound as good as they used to.

AG is incredible. You know how much I love that one.

It's def better than Life Is Good and Fishscale, though they're both excellent.

Is John Legend worth listening to? Ever? I've never even considered it. Frankly, I don't know if the guy is hip hop, R&B, alternative r&b, some kinda Jack Johnsony type of thing, or just a black guy who is non threatening to whites because everything about him is white except for his skin ( lookin' at you, Hootie).

No idea who or what he is. If it's good, let me know.

lol, he's an R&B singer. you've heard him on Blame Game and probably more.

Kanye co-produced most of the tracks on his new album.

production by Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Bink!, Hit-Boy, 88-Keys, etc.

How's dedication 5?

Right now I'm pissed at Wayne. Carters II and III remain in pretty consistent rotation for me, but I listen to Rebirth, IANAHB, and even Carter IV, and think, "Jesus Christ this is the most inane, boring, mindless shit a genius who made two of the best hip hop albums of all time could possibly offer."

IANAHBII seems to have become moderately enjoyable, but only because of a few verses reminiscent of the Wayne of old.

Still, with The Weeknd and 2-Chainz on board, Im definitely interested, though I'm sure disappointment is inevitable. Maybe wayne should actually quit the syrup for a tick, just so he can get in a fresh state of mind. Then resume his 100 daily doses of it, and make another scatological, opiate laced masterpiece.

louder 09.04.2013 07:30 AM

Weezy used to be the coolest rapper in the game. Dedication 5 sucks though. Carter 4, IANAHB1+2, D4 and 5 all have a few decent songs, but that isn't the Wayne i love. :(

The Weeknd killed it though. i think i'm gonna buy his new album.

louder 09.04.2013 07:41 AM

2 Chainz is completely ridiculous, in a good way. his delivery/pronunciation is dope, prolly had my fav verse on Mercy and i like his new single with Pharrell too. his debut album was wack though, a couple of good songs but meh, i hope that the new one will be better.

noisereductions 09.04.2013 08:31 AM

D5 is way better than D3 and D4. It's better than Sorry 4 The Wait too... maybe.

There's def some MISsteps in there ("New Slaves" and "F'ing Problems" are a bit boring for example, as its basically just the same flow as the original songs. Nothing unique) but this is a STEP in the RIGHT direction for Weezy. His take on "Don't Kill My Vibe" or "CREAM" show that he's putting some serious effort back into a mixtape. His track w/ Chance is really awesome.

I don't know, I think maybe he's starting to take a look around and realize that his time is up. He's realizing that names like Kendrick, Rocky, Chance, Tyler, Earl, etc are on everyone's lips and nobody is putting Weezy in that same breath.

What made D1 and D2 so compelling? It was the DEDICATION. He was DEDICATED to advancing his craft.

The lack of said effort is what made D3 and D4 so meh.

D5 seems a mix of both. Genuine effort, mixed with some throwaways.

I'm just saying that there's a glimmer of hope that he could possibly finally care enough to try hard for us again. Maybe.

louder 09.04.2013 08:51 AM

i wish. :(

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.04.2013 02:32 PM

Sighs. I did my best to shift the conversations towards more substantive rap and hip hop, and now we're back to Lil Wayne and other boojie shit. Meh..

dead_battery 09.05.2013 02:40 PM

love dat lady android.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.05.2013 06:58 PM

This record is like, fucking fantastic. I was thinking like foreverkiss, like what is this? Art Rap? Hip Hop? Straight up old school 70s rock? Wait. ITS ALL OF THESE AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME??? AND ITS CONSCIOUS? Fuck. Its not exactly better than The ArchArachnid but its not exactly worse. Its different, in an evolutionary way. Great record. Looking forward to actually buying it instead of waiting for YouTube or SoundCloud ;)

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.05.2013 06:59 PM

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to dead_battery again.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 09.05.2013 07:36 PM

Sort of. I was on my prep but I had to run and get some copies and shit so I heard like the first quarter and last third.

Yeah bra, I fuckin did! I went off when it first came out, but nobody seemed to agree/ disagree / care enough to comment (which, I'm ashamed to admit, pretty much removed it from active play on my iShits).

Hell yeah though. Now that I have someone else on board, I can listen again without losing respect for myself. :0

SKY HIGH! SKY HIGH!

That's my shiz.

Also, if you haven't already downloaded, I'd highly recommend that YOU check out the NY Renaissance mixtape. It's a comp from earlier this year with Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky & Ferg, PRO ERA, etc. I'm really feelign the tracks by Dyme A Duzin too.

this album is gonna be soooo good. sososo fckin good ahh man i'm so excited. DRAKE!!

louder 09.07.2013 04:09 AM

as far as this year goes, i could name like 20 tapes which were pretty good based on 2-3 listens (sometimes more than that) but then i just forgot about their existence.

so Yeezus, Long.Live.A$AP, Acid Rap, Doris, N64.

best hip-hop in 2013, for me, so far.

louder 09.07.2013 07:18 AM

"Wait, and tell 'em I'm mixing that Slayer with that 2Pac shit
One golden bullet to kill all that faggot pop shit"

OH. MY GOD.

louder 09.07.2013 08:04 AM

man that album is just too dope!! caught me off guard.

noisereductions 09.07.2013 08:30 AM

yeah this was a pretty good year for pretty good mixtapes.

WTF is N64? (All I can think is Nintendo 64)

Acid Rap is good, but still not smething I love.

Long.Live.A$AP still #1. Yeezus is up there.

I still need Doris, bad.
