Quelle surprise. The Youf is not exactly en vogue with... well, the youth. It was already like that when I was in school. And back then they had still rather recently released two albums. Then again, I used to live in a drab industrial town without any good record stores. But I guess many of the boardies have made similar experiences way before me. Own it. Be the odd one out, embrace it. |
Update: one of them has! That makes 1/15.
(Admittedly he was in my Music group last year, when I enthusiastically championed them. And his name is Thurston as well, lol) [666 posts :D ] |

but maybe you could organize a bowie-mullet dance thing? ha ha ha. i am terrible with trends. i'm just saying, since things change all the time... why not look at variations of theme as well as venue this is your expertise so ofc you know your market best and what can be an attraction |

I picked twenty artists (all of which I know, and like most of them) for people to say if they'd heard of them. Out of 15 responses, here's how many have known each artist: 14: The Beatles [1] 13: Coldplay 10: Fall Out Boy 9: Led Zeppelin, Radiohead 6: Van Halen 4: Pixies [2] 2: Weezer 1: The Clash [3], Joy Division, Sonic Youth 0: Aphex Twin, Black Flag, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hole, Jane's Addiction, Kraftwerk, Mission of Burma, Seefeel, Wire [1] For those of you paying attention, that means there is one person who, apparently, hasn't heard of The Beatles. [2] This was surprisingly high. [3] This was surprisingly low. |
Had to go to the 1st district of Vienna today. I think I'll never get completely accustomed to that particular part of town. It's the playground of those Neo Cons and wannabe Gordon Geckos that are currently trying to fuck this country over big time. It's also the epicenter of pretty much all of the tourist groups, so the streets are always packed. A place of pandering, of meticulously calculated, overpriced and easily digestible attractions. A stomping ground for the richest of the rich. In essence, a place of pure fucking artifice that seems to exist in a vacuum. And yet there is something legitimately fascinating about its its opulent architecture and its little idiosyncrasies. Like hearing someone play a flute-only version of The Thieving Magpie next to some Hot Dog stand. It's like that place is trying to conserve a perpetual image of a decadent, classical music-infused past that may have never existed in that particular manner. And sometimes amidst all the shallow pandering a tiny glimpse of actual passion seeps out.
