So the lone Finals sans DunKoBron is Heat Mavs Part One???

So we should probably put DWade on this list and call it DunKoBronAde

Bytor Peltor 04.09.2016 10:05 AM

Last night, the Denver Nuggets become the first team this season to beat both the Golden State Warriors & the San Antonio Spurs!

Rockets have lost at least once to all West teams except Minnesota (2-0) & LA Lakers (3-0). They have a game remaining vs each. Then finish vs Sacramento (2-1)

Golden State & Chicago are the ONLY two NBA teams to reach 70 wins.

The Warriors (70-9) are 9-0 this season in games following a loss.

How strong is the West......Golden State didn't secure home-court until their 70th win.

The Warriors are three wins away from 73

+/- leaders since 93-94......Draymond increases his lead. Curry passes Michael Jordan for #2 overall......Klay passes 800.

Curry Milestone Watch

5 points under 30 points per game (needs 95 in 3 games)
15 3-pointers from 400
10 field goals made over 50%
17 free-throw attempts over 90%
14 +/- from 1000

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.09.2016 05:17 PM

Elephant in the room. WARRIORS ARE 15-1 AGAINST SUNS KINGS AND LAKERS. If each of those teams had won just one more game against Dubs then they'd be at 67 right now.

Maybe warriors are historically good team or maybe they're just in a division that is having a historically bad season???

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.09.2016 05:19 PM

But hey bytor doesn't want to have an actual conversation he just finna post a bunch of stats out of context and perpetrate the hype machine

Thanks for sharing, I had not seen this! Dropping 35 in his very last Sunday afternoon ABC game is how you turn back the clock......it was Kobe's 5th 30+ point game this season.

Speaking of televised games......this Wednesday:

Jazz @ Lakers (Kobe's Final Game) has been moved to ESPN 2

Memphis @ Golden State will now air on ESPN as Dubs go for win number 73

(ESPN having Mark Jackson announcing Wednesday's game is like being the best man at your friends wedding when he's about to marry your ex)

Last night in San Antonio, Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson outscored Tony Parker & Danny Green 51-6, matching largest point differential for a starting backcourt in 2015-16.

Curry with his second 37-point game of the year vs. the Spurs......NO ONE else has scored more than 33 against the Spurs this season:

Golden State is the FIRST team in NBA HISTORY to go an entire season and NOT lose consecutive games!

This is probably a good time to remember that Steve Kerr passed on Phil Jackson to tie Phil's win record......then ruined the perfect home season of the coach who won his 1st ring with him = Kerr is a King Slayer!

Scottie Pippen showing some love: "Giving credit where credit is due. Congrats to Steve Kerr and his Warriors on win no. 72. They earned it tonight!" "Stephen Curry showed why he's the MVP. As cold blooded shooter as I've ever seen and a basketball IQ that is off the charts."

Warriors offensive-rebound percentage this season
Overall: 23.5%
In clutch: 32.8%
Down 3 or less or tied in final minute: 62.5%

Looking ahead to Warriors final game this Wednesday:

ESPN's Basketball Power Index (BPI) projects Warriors have 91% chance to beat Grizzlies, set NBA record with 73 wins

Steph Curry needs 8 3-pointers to reach 400.

Steph has hit 8 in a game 25 times in his career, 15 of them happened this season!

Steph scoring 41 points will give him 30 points per game average for the season.

A few notes:
- 72 wins: ties single-season NBA record (95-96 Bulls)
- 34 road wins: new NBA record
- 63 games over .500: most in NBA history

Bytor Peltor 04.11.2016 11:22 PM

Seth Curry has his first career double-double tonight, in his 47th career game. His brother Steph has 101 double-doubles in 494 career games.

By winning tonight in Minnesota, the Rockets control their post-season fate. Beat Sacramento in Houston Wednesday night and the Rickets are in.

Even if the Rockets lose, Utah losing at LA Lakers also gets the Rockets in due to them having the tiebreaker over the Jazz.

Current "locked" Playoff Positions
1. Cleveland
2. Toronto

1. Golden State
2. San Antonio
3. Oklahoma City
4. Los Angeles Clippers.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.12.2016 12:11 AM

I got dubs and clippers and spurs and thunder in the west semis

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.12.2016 12:12 AM

If spurs beat thunder they can beat warriors but its a big if considering spurs history against okc. If spurs make finals cavs can beat them because Cavs do all the OKC things that always hurt Spurs. That is an even bigger if. Otherwise Dubs win the whole damned thing.

Bytor Peltor 04.13.2016 06:53 PM

Goodbye Kobe

Kobe played his first NBA game six days before the first Tyson-Holyfield fight.

Derick Fisher assisted on the most Kobe baskets (576)......all 5 Championships were with Coach Phil Jackson.

Isaiah Thomas could become 3rd in team history to average 22 points & 6 assists per game (Larry Bird & John Havlicek)

Oracle Pre-game:

Thursday Night Recap
Kobe drops 60 in final game.
Warriors set record with 73 wins.
Wittman fired. Smitch gone. Rockets clinch. Celtics 26 point comeback!

Magic said Kobe is the BEST to ever wear the Purple & Gold

Boxscore from Kobe's final game (60 is now the most points scored in a Final Game):

Kobe Bryant: 15 points in First Quarter of final game

Michael Jordan totaled 15 points in his Final Game

Mamba Out!

Bytor Peltor 04.14.2016 06:07 AM

Kobe broke Iverson's record for missed shots in a game......there is something SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Kobe to this!

I'm guessing most NBA starters could score 60 on any night if given 50 shot opportunities!

When you wish you had a farewell tour like Kobe.....

I wonder if anyone realizes that Tim Duncan's emotional farewell will be him no longer showing up to work one day?

Speaking of keeping it low key, Elton Brand played in his final game last night.

Bytor Peltor 04.14.2016 06:16 AM

The past ten days for Jordan......

Villanova defeats North Carolina in the NCAA Championship Game (I was there)

Kobe scores 60 in his sendoff while only playing for one franchise.

The Golden State Warriors win 73 Games.

Scottie Pippen: "Knowing what it takes to win 72 games, I've got to tip my hat to the Golden State Warriors for getting to 73. Good luck to Steve Kerr & Company in the playoffs!

"Who Are The Golden State Warriors"

The game was over at halftime, which made it easier to flip over to ESPN 2

Kobe: "what Warriors did with 73 wins was ridiculous."

Steph was honoring Kobe's retirement with his shot selection off the bounce last night.

Even Curry's nine misses were entertaining......the most fun since Greg Ostertag.

Danny Ainge - first to make 100 3-pointers in a season.
John Starks - first to make 200 3-pointers in a season.
Steph Curry - first to make 300 & 400 3-pointers......in the same season.

Scottie Pippen made 150 3-pointers the year Chicago won 72 games.

Stephen Curry finished the year with a 66.9 true shooting percentage and a 32.0 usage rate......Unbelievable!

Curry is now a member of the 50-45-90 club!

Curry
Nash
Kerr

While everyone was so focused on Curry's 400 threes, Steph also tied Gilbert Arenas record for most points in less than 30 minutes with 46.

Once again, Curry didn't play in the 4th Quarter.

PLEASE read the following twice

Steph Curry now has 1206 points from 3-pointers this year. For comparison, that's more than Kobe scored TOTAL in 5 of his 20 seasons.

^^^^keep reading until in sinks in!

CLASSIC Draymond Green: "Our championship was luck last year. We lucked our way into 73 wins this year."

Over the past two season, there has only been THREE OF US actively posting in this thread......how am I / we hyping anything?

For any actual conversation, I posted the following on March 1st. No one attempted to compare shattering the 3-pointers made record by 116 to Home-runs or any of the other big numbers in sports: stolen basses, hits in a season, TD's thrown, rushing TD's or rushing yards in a season......is anything comparable?

What if Curry makes 400 3-pointers, beating the record by 114 made shots......what do you compare that to?

People love to debate today's game versus the good old days. Styles and rules have changed and teams / players adjust. One thing that hasn't changed is the circumference of the rim or it's height (10 feet). Curry is hands down the best shooter in the history of the game and he will be re-writing history for years to come.

At his best, Ray Allen was never this good......

Harden this season:
2338 PTS
608 ASTS
497 RBDS
139 STLS
51 Blocks

Curry this season:
2329 PTS
521 ASTS
426 RBDS
167 STLS
15 blocks

However, someone had a season that sort of flew under the radar:

I wonder if The Dubs will even play the tape of James Harden saying saying the Warriors “aren’t even that good” again?

Daryl Morey's job is safe and sound

This is the ONLY first round Western Conference series where a teams BPI isn't favored by 90%

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.14.2016 03:17 PM

Sports media is hyping warriors to point of market saturation. I bet on march 1 i replied to your point. I think warriors shooting endless volume 3s is very much comparable to say a pass happy NFL team that is totally imbalanced and throws the ball twice as much as they run it..

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.14.2016 03:18 PM

In nFL all the passing records keep getting broken every season because so many teams throw the damn ball so much..

Cavs should be legit worried that it took one of their "big 3" best ever combined games to win Game 1 in 1st round considering every other team blew out their opponents! I think Cavs either lock in and can win the damn thing or like the 2012 Atlanta Falcons ain't near good enough and would best if they lost in Conference Finals to get hungry and possible chance a a weakened GS next year..

I had heat possible against cavs in ECF today that indeed looks very possible.

Cavaliers didn't get much production from players other than LeBron James, Kyrie Irving & Kevin Love in the first half:

K Love was dropping dimes all over the place......so was Detroit:

Pistons: 10 made 3-pt FG are their most in any half of a playoff game since May 7, 2006, also vs the Cavaliers (10 in first half).

LeBron James had played 7,562 playoff mins, more than twice as many as the Pistons roster combined:

Miami Heat's 123 points in Game 1 vs Hornets are a franchise record for points scored:

Heat: 28 field goals in the paint

Hornets: 28 made field goals

First time in NBA history that four teams won their opening game of the playoffs by 25 or more points.

The top 2 teams in the Western Conference went 2-0 in Game 1 and outscored opponents by 58 points.

Largest Wins To Open Postseason in Spurs History:

2006 Kings 34
Sunday Grizzlies 32

Spurs made 10 of their first 11 shots in the 3rd quarter to put this game away:

Spurs: won 11 of last 12 playoff series openers

Tony Parker has passed both Larry Bird and Steve Nash on the all-time playoff assists list......now ranks 5th all-time (1,065)

Vince Carter: 4-5 FG, 11 points

Rest of Grizzlies: 5-22, 11 points

Bytor Peltor 04.18.2016 10:11 PM

Mavericks are the first team to win Game 2 after losing Game 1 by 35 or more since 1995 Celtics (against Magic)

Mavericks made 8 of final 13 shot attempts

Thunder missed 13 of final 16 shots, including 2 in the final seconds

Westbrook is the 4th worst 3 point shooter EVER of anyone who's taken more than 1500 threes.

Kevin Durant: 7-of-33 from field......26 missed shots is most in playoff game since Michael Jordan missed 26 in 1997

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.18.2016 11:55 PM

Haha in the final minutes the Thunder are always beatable because it devolves into the KD and Russ show. Sure they beat two times out of three that way but it won't win more than a handful of playoff series.

Bytor Peltor 04.19.2016 11:50 AM

Rockets scored first four points, Warriors took lead at 7-6 at 8:01 of 1stQ - only lead change of game......there were no lead changes in Game One.

Dwight Howard fouled out......Rockets were outscored by 20 points when he was on the floor last night.
(just don't see teams lining up to offer him more $$$ than the Rockets can)

Klay Thompson lead Warriors with 20 points at halftime & finished with 34. In previous game Curry missed vs Rockets on Dec. 31, Thompson had 17 in 1st half, 38 for game.

Warriors likely to sit Curry on Thursday & Sunday......want him playing thru mid June.

Klay joking about playing without Steph: "So much easier when he's not out there, his man's always sagging in the paint...selfish teammate."

@djjazzyjeff215 "Watching the game...I really and truly think I can play defense better than James Harden!!!"

The question DJ Jazzy Jeff is, can you hit game winners better than James Harden?

Creating that amount of space in that amount of time......absurd!

Warriors lose a playoff game by a single point for the first time since April 28, 1992 at Seattle (128-129).

Including playoffs, that was 8th time the Warriors were held under 100 points this season......GSW are 2-6 in those games (73-4 in others).

Klay Thompson's playoff 3-point streak of 31-straight games ends. It was 2nd longest active streak behind Stephen Curry's 41-straight.

Besides Howard, no one shot over 44% at halftime......even when the Rockets were up big, they shot horribly!

Game 5 will be Wednesday at either 9:30 or 8:00 pm depending on other game 5's needed......speaking of (in my best Ester Role): "Damn Damn Damn, We've got to fly back to Oakland"

That picture explains a lot about the Rockets season and Howard's carrier!

I'm hoping that embarrassment somehow motivates them in Game 4 later today. Not necessarily to win, but to at least keep it a game. Golden State is the only team not to lose back-2-back games during the regular season, so Rockets winning today would really be something.

Speaking of......last time Hornets won playoff game: 5/9/2002 vs NJ Nets:

Seems they didn't want to have to go to Oakland. Its like duh, what do Rockets think? Losing in playoff series is how a team grows. You have to play your hardest even if the series itself is hopeless because that is how a team develops. Remember when OKC pushed 1st seed returning champion Lakers to six hard.fought games as an 8th seed in first round back in 2010? Sure Lakers went to win the championship but OKC hanging in a few games with the champs under a national spotlight grabed some attention and some respect for OKC. No one eas surprised when they made Finals two years later. Or when Warriors lost in second round to eventual champion Spur in 2014. That series is what elevated Dubs to legit contenders.

If rockets gonna pout because they have to play GS again they missed the point of the playoffs entirely.

why were the rockets so bad in second half last night? They could have had a chance if they only wanted to win, it looked like they didn't care anymore ?
why was Harden sleeping during the 4th quarter? can't he even encourage his team mates in the field?

I don't know the rockets though, perhaps it's normal for them

The Houston Rockets are reliably unreliable......tied at the end of the 1st Q and tied at half-time, Green's 3-pointers and then winning all the loose balls that lead to Klay Thompson's 3-pointers were the game-changers! GSW set the NBA record for threes in a playoff game, hitting 21-of-40 (.525) probably paid the biggest factor in their win over Houston. Excluding Curry, they were 20-of-32......simply amazing! The Warriors' 38 assists are the most in a playoff game since a franchise postseason record 40 assist game on 5/4/94 vs. Phoenix.

Kerr on Curry: "I just feel so awful for him." MRI scheduled for today......at least Curry left the floor on his own......LeBitch caught a cramp and acted like his carrier was over.

David Lee is out for the rest of the series. "He's in a (walking) boot," coach Rick Carlisle said. "That's never good."

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.25.2016 12:40 PM

I know kerr wasn't talking shit. Cramps can shut down muscle functions even worse than an injury. Also i know kerr isn't talking shit when last season his boy klay Thompson dove into Kyrie knee.. kharma is a bitch likely that.

And yeah Heat overreacted to the cramp BUT what were they gonna do, just leave Lebron on the floor because with his muscles locked up like that only way off the floor was carrying or crawling.

Haha if curry think he tougher than Lebron I'd like to see it. Lebron rolled his ankle in yesterday gametoo.. i didn't see him miss any games ;)

Win or lose, I do believe the above tried and true words will apply to the Charlotte Hornets. What a scrappy game, I know MJ is proud of them holding serve to tie the series.

Thank You OKC

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.25.2016 10:41 PM

I meant luckiest as in getting to play the lesser team while Curry is out. Also getting to play all the banged up teams last season. Listen its not disrespect to Dubs BUT sports is always about capitalizing on luck. No shame in that. Is what it is. And yes. Dubs just got very lucky. They playing Spurs minus Curry and its Spurs in 6

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.25.2016 10:44 PM

When the ball bounces your way you take advantage. You can be Michael Jordan and if it doesn't bounce your way it doesn't bounce your way.

Heat got lucky that Bosh got that rebound in Game 6. They also capitalized on it by Ray Allen making his shot and Lebron making big shots in OT. I ain't ashamed to saythere was some good luck involved even while of course arguing theHeat capitalized on their luck
