Great band. What do you make of them?

racehorse 08.22.2007 04:28 AM

they were fantastic. i first heard about them through the wim wenders film "wings of desire" when they are shown playing in a show in berlin with nick cave. they surpass anything the bad seeds have ever done in my book.
one of my favourite supergroups :)

You're right, I prefer them to The Bad Seeds too. Something about their sound being rougher around the edges than Da Seeds' sits well with me.

racehorse 08.22.2007 04:39 AM

speaking of birthday party side projects, ever heard the record lydia lunch did with roland s. howard?
it's absolutely wonderful.

racehorse 08.22.2007 05:10 AM

sarramkrop 08.22.2007 05:13 AM

The R S. Rowland/ Lunch record is indeed great. I like the name Vanishing Voice, but I was really disappointed upon hearing their music for the first time.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum ( a deliberately stupid name, but I love the band )

acousticrock87 07.14.2008 12:31 AM

I've always thought Steepytime Gorilla Museum was a pretty good name. It's weird and easy to remember. It's the only reason I decided (and remembered) to listen to them.

Green Magnesium 07.14.2008 01:06 AM

Yeah the name actually drew me to them as well. I thought it was gonna be some lame comedy/rock type act.

Very different from what I expected but they really are something.

BootsyGraham 07.14.2008 01:13 AM

The Whoremones
Butthole Surfers
Lightbulb
Funkadelic
Sonic Youth

GrungeMonkey 07.14.2008 03:55 AM
