Erik Satie & post rockish stuff. Sometimes Dead can dance.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.03.2006 04:55 PM

I don't always listen to music while I sleep- my record player is in the kitchen and my computer is in the basement. But in the past I've done:
MBV- Loveless
David Bowie- Ziggy Stardust
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon
Velvet Underground- VU
and some Tchaikovsky

beethoven. I also have a local classical station that's pretty good most of the time.

And Kid A is an awesome album to sleep and wake to.

Niicee, that sounds great! Is that in listening order? I'd have I love you Golden Blue right at the bottom, but you're dead on with the Diamond Sea and I dreamed I dream near the end!

When I go to sleep, I usually listen to some:
Einsturzende Neubauten
Simon Guibord
Aphex Twin
Aki Onda
"Sonic Nurse"

And talking about velvet uinderground, I just got my income tax refund so Im'a buy a whole bunch of VU shit.

Recently -

Jimi Tenor - Organism (especially My Mind)
Kraftwerk - Electric Cafe

And yes, it's very indie of me, but

All-Time Quarterback

fishmonkey 05.09.2006 09:37 AM

my favorite album to fall asleep to is..

truncated 05.09.2006 09:40 AM

Ooh, good choice fishmonkey - it never occurred to me to listen to that, and I imagine it'd be quite soothing. One of only two Radiohead albums I actually like.

fishmonkey 05.09.2006 09:57 AM

yeah, its a good, one, sends you off like a baby...ZZZZZzzzzzz just thinkin of it now i'd love a sleep, except its 4 pm and i'm working till 6.. boo hoo for me,

truncated 05.09.2006 10:01 AM

EMMAh 05.09.2006 01:51 PM

I used to listen to a classical radio station, but lately I've just been watching movies till I fall asleep.

the other day when I was already sleeping my Cd player was still on, and this music was on my dreams!, It's was SO fucking amazing, I was like...travelling to diferent places and my human form was just a little shining dot....

weird.

Hahah that's happened to me before.
I was listening to Nirvana, and in my dream my friend Allison was singing In Bloom and she sounded just like Kurt. And I was all jealous hahahah.

Iain 05.09.2006 05:09 PM

Good call on the Satie...

NNCK is a favorite bedtime one for me. Intonomancy especially

Spookily enough I was just going to come here and write the exact same thing. Although I suspect that you don't have the weird dream about the insect eating your blood every time you do listen to it while sleeping.

nomadicfollower 05.09.2006 05:39 PM

I can't sleep with music on. When I lay my head down, I demand silence.
If I had to choose something, though, it would probably be Do Make Say Think, because of the soothing repetitiveness of it.

RockerNino 05.09.2006 06:29 PM

as lame as it sounds, myself.

HaydenAsche 05.09.2006 06:43 PM

Last night I slept to A Silver Mt. Zion's "He Has Left Us Alone But Sometimes Shafts Of Light Grace The Corners Of Our Rooms".

Glice 05.09.2006 06:49 PM

You poor lamb. You do know that is fucking awful music right? I don't know if anyone's ever told you that.

HaydenAsche 05.09.2006 07:03 PM

What? When did this happen? No one has told me.

Glice 05.09.2006 07:13 PM

Yep. It's true. Because emo has been over-used as a word, there is no music which is actually emo any more. Therefore, the record-store elders elected that all post-rock is now, and I quote, "As shit as emo was a couple of years ago".

Sorry old bean.

finding nobody 05.09.2006 07:44 PM

its hard for me to fall asleep while listening to music. but these come to mind

sea change- beck
unplugged- nirvana
the early recordings- skip james
where did you sleep last night? legacy vol. 1- leadbelly

RdTv 05.09.2006 09:22 PM

Lately, its been Nick Drake, Beck, Yellow 6, Smog and Lush.

terminal pharmacy 05.09.2006 10:37 PM

holst - the planets
feeney - dracula (the ballet)
steve reich - three tales
sy - sonic death
strauss - thus spake zarathustra

youthoftomorrow 05.09.2006 11:31 PM

i never listen to music as i'm falling asleep (my stereo doesn't have the sleep option, and i can't stand the thought of it being on all night). but i do listen to music as i'm about to go to sleep. Loveless gets played alot. so does Sonic Nurse. Sea Change gets thrown in there occasionally.

i read alot when i'm trying to sleep. William Gibson does wonders for me.

DemonBox 05.10.2006 10:51 AM

well, it depends but, i find Sonic Nurse good for that use. And any of Wilco three latest studioalbums.

SolidZach 05.10.2006 10:52 AM

classical or sy daydream nation

SolidZach 05.10.2006 10:54 AM

sometimes dinosaur jr. -where you been?

Well, I'll be damned! Never would I have thought our world would come to this. Generally, I do prefer some good ol' EITS or Do Make Say Think.

Incesticide 05.10.2006 02:41 PM

Yesterday : Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs

Trasher02 05.10.2006 02:43 PM

Ah, no.....but perhaps I will now you mention it.

Also, I hope A Silver Mt Zion aren't that shit. I think I am probably going to see them in a few weeks. I haven't heard any of their stuff but Godspeed are OK...

Disgruntled Youth 05.10.2006 04:13 PM
