Marley, I really like your stuff, especially the drums.
I have about 10 songs of yours from the old board. http://www.badongo.com/file/355943 First recording, made about 2 months ago. |
Thanks a million. I can't believe people actually like my early recordings, what w/ the bad mixing & everything. It makes me feel good to know that you have my stuff stored away somewhere.
|
Hey, no problem.
Here's another one recorded today. I know these are stupid little songs, but I enjoy making them. http://www.badongo.com/file/355993 |
Keep 'em coming Dom.

Some really weird noise thing I did a while ago. http://www.badongo.com/file/356040 and a drone-y keyboard thing from a while ago. and I'm done annoying you guys now. |
you'll have to wait to hear my stuff, the computer got crazy and wouldn't process the tape rip, i'll try tomorrow
|
marley:
Nice work for a first recording! I like the buildup. The drums aren't too bad later in the clip either. Better than my first I must say! |
Are you refering to me inhuman? It sounds like you are. If you are, Thank you. I had to get started somewhere.

my apologies, I tried to do an empty quote to only display your name, but I guess it only works on myspace. No problem man, it sounds good. How old were you when you recorded it? |
Let's see, 17, I think. But I've done so many recordings since then it's hard to keep track. Going on 21 years old.

That's pretty good! I did my first at 16, and it's only been a year, but my musical preference has changed so much that my style has changed completely, I'm better at guitar, and we have a studio that we can record at, so it's much better than the first recording. What forms of music do you do now? |
You know, the SY type thing. Punk/Noise/Improv. I do like writing acoustical numbers as well.
|

Wow, same deal here! I like doing solo acoustic stuff, and with my band No-wave stuff. I have to work on my feedback though. heh, we're tied in post count! |
Well, I'll post some of my feedback type stuff that I composed. To me, it's one of my best recordings. Just to show how to do it. But, hopefully you will enjoy as well.

Well, here's a track I made just for that purpose of pure feedback. Now, I posted this on the old board, but you migh not have heard it. So here it goes. (please examine & enjoy the work) "Warfair" http://www.badongo.net/file/356875 Let me know what you think, & if you've learned anything from this track. I hope you enjoy |
C'mon people. Listen to something, or post something.
|
Oh, man I have one I'll post soon that'll give yallz a big laugh. My band from 95 was on a 7" comp...we'll, I'll explain when I post it.
|
CHOUT: Have you heard the "Warfair" track before? I know you posted a bunch of my stuff once, but I can't remember if "Warfair" was one of those tracks are not. Well, sorry to impose. Thanks
|
a little bump.

Here are my first ones

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=322779 |

I'll be waiting w/ glee to hear your comments.
|
You can here a couple of clips from my short-lived band's (and only band to this date) first show here at this my space link that I can't believe is still up...
myspace.com/theperineals Man, listening to this shit, I actually think I like it and could have stayed together... We just aren't really musicians and are too busy doing other things, and just don't naturally play well as a band consistantly. |
CHOUT: Good sir, Has it been due time yet?
|
I have earlier stuff than this, but only on cassette. First recordings are from 1989, but these are the earliest I could find digitally. I have a lot of stuff from this era (early to mid 90s).
Salamander- "Red Ampersand," spontaneous improv recorded to cassette 4 track with 1 mic, 1993: http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3...027987GPZE88TR Gentle Tasaday- "Psychedelic Emergency," recorded in my parents' basement when I was house-sitting for them, summer 1992. This is me and my best friend to this day: http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...J2F1CHVPGYZ0IG This was a LONG time ago. |
Thanks for contributing Savage Clone. I wish I could listen.

CHOUT: Are you signed to an indie label, or anything. 'Cuz I'm desperate to get my group heard to the public. Public meaning, record labels.
It seems to be that your group CHOUt, & Small white have a pretty good name for themselves. & I was wondering if you could do some promoting for my group. I know this seems silly, & desperate, but we are. We've been trying for years to get signed & nothing seems to work. Any promoting you can do would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Sonic Life |

No, I am by no means signed. Good Enough Records is my cd-r label that I 'release' mine and my friends' stuff on for fun, not profit. Chout is what I call my own 'one man band' (not solo!) recordings. Small White are a relatively new band (still under a year old). Though I guess we are slowly making a name for ourselves, we aren't very popular outside of our friends and acquaintances. We just hope to improve our music/songs with time and practice, and if people dig it, that's awesome. Our main motivation right now is to play shows and have fun, we never even talk about getting signed to a proper label. It's not even on the radar. I don't know what I could do to promote your group that you can't do yourself (and as we've done for ours). Putting your music on Myspace is a good start, make a webpage (geocites is free), get shows, make flyers, send demos to labels, record stations etc. |
I have been doing some of what you listed. Making flyers, sending demos to record labels. I just sent one to Smells Like Records through BadonGo, & the download file page says there's been like 8 downloads of my demo, but I'm just wishful thinking about that. Thanks for your advice. I will definetly go check out geocites.

i know i promised my metal intentioned, no wave sounding first recordings but things have been crazy and my computer freaked out when i tried to normalize the recording, so hang on until tomorrow, i'll upload 3 or 4 songs
|
I know how you feel. My computer freaks out everytime I upload a track off of a cd-rw. I don't know why it does that. It really pisses me off.
|
also, i need to download of your stuff, people
|
Just let us know what you think Everyneurotic. & if you have the time, please check out the 2 new tracks I posted. Thanks
|
alright
Ihave two tracks here... the first is section of the first tape I recorded called the gooey tape becuz it was priorly home to a dub of goo. I recorded on a one-track recorder meant for interviewing people... in the hands of a 4 trak it becomes really cool sounding because you can play the A and B sides at the same time. I took a section of noise jamming and then the b-side (going backwards) is a song... but not a very good one, it works better going the other way. -selection from gooey tape http://www.badongo.com/file/378454 the next is an actual song I did last year... it was on the first tape I made with my 4-track. Most of the stuff was aimless jamming and messing around, but this was a song... with some of said noise before it. Written before I went to college last year. -at least for today http://www.badongo.com/file/378582 (try and) enjoi! ps- i'll get around to listening to this thread soon... and yr new songs marley |
I can't wait to hear what you think hey alex. I'm sorry I can't listen to your recordings. I would if I could. But, they do sound like interesting pieces.
