It's a very good album ! it look like a kind of best of bardo pond, with songs that look like what they were doing in their "matador era" and over one that look more like what they did recently...
It seems to me that vocals are more put forward than on the other album... the voice is not drowned into the guitar... it's a little bit suprising but it's okay...
Bardo Pond is a great band !!

The Watcher 01.21.2011 03:21 PM

I think the new one is pretty amazing.... the poor reviews I read implied it was "too noisy" and "too jammy" so I was hopeful it would be noisy and jammy!

JohnEsmoke 01.21.2011 06:54 PM

It's a shame to see that such a great band and such a great record are so ignored... just listen to this :

I usually feel a bit guilty about commenting on the sexiness of female band members, as i dont want to undermine their talent, but Isobel is fucking sexy

Some guy was scolded for stating this on another forum kind of thing, but yep, I concur wholeheartedly.

Check out http://bardo-pond-photography.blogspot.com/, if you haven't already.

not that many people, i reckon about 80-100. shame.

EvdWee 10.31.2011 03:38 AM

nice.

somebody I know said they were better than at ATP last year, but I doubt that. I don't trust her opinion on this band :)

pokkeherrie 10.31.2011 07:26 AM

Hmm, I don't know.
I remember that I wasn't really able to keep my full attention during their set at ATP so I'm not the right person to ask to compare them. I remember the gig they played in London a few days before that much clearer.

I sometimes have issues with the sound at De Helling, but it was really good this time.

EvdWee 10.31.2011 10:03 AM

hehe, was front row at ATP, but sadly it was early on the day.

They should have put the gig in EKKO, much nicer there instead of that industrial hall De Helling is...

Any Bardo Pond fan out there can help me out with the name of this song? I don't think it's from any of their albums that I've heard. Great moment from an absolutely mindblowing show.

krastian 11.09.2011 11:54 PM

Really like the site.

EvdWee 11.12.2011 02:03 PM

does anyone know who is sampled in the end-part of The High Frequency by Bardo Pond on Amanita?

hirsute_biped 11.12.2011 07:32 PM

So if I asked you to recommend me a good intro to Bardo Pond, what would you say?

the ikara cult 11.12.2011 08:22 PM

Lapsed is the album that i enjoyed first, but if you want a song, we all adore this live version of the song Isle from Ticket Crystals

i would also reccomend the latest self titled album on Fire records (I do not work for them, i just think theyre a great label).

get stuck in, they are one of the few bands who can make you feel totally at peace with the world around you.

Bardo Pond & Tom Carter's "4/23/03", due to be released in January of 2012, can now be pre-ordered from Three Lobed Recordings:

the ikara cult 12.12.2011 04:24 PM

Cool. I must say i wasnt that blown away by their previous collaboration, but if theyve got back together its definitely worth a listen.

Oh, I misread that as a new collaboration... Chances are i wont be ordering the bumper reissue then...

hipster_bebop_junkie 12.12.2011 09:45 PM

Yeah, it was originally released in 2004, but never in vinyl format.

the ikara cult 12.12.2011 10:43 PM

they should get back together again, tom carter plus bardo pond is one of the greatest equations in psychedelic rock and roll. The last Charalambides album was exceptional, as was the last Bardo Pond album. Lets have it!

Decayed Rhapsody 12.12.2011 10:48 PM

Bardo Pond always seemed kinda samey, but I am really digging their latest release. Might have to investigate further.
