thanks a lot guys for introducing me to this band! They were awesome live, and I hope I'll see them some time soon with a full headline set

Worth checking out Bambi's solo project as well: https://soundcloud.com/bambikill. Vena Cava are good people who've been passed over for a while but they're a cracking band. Pleased to see them getting the lavathief treatment, and great that the mighty Cloudy's involved too (who has a duo that I've put on once and keep meaning to put on again - very good, in a horrifying way - http://nonferricmemories.blogspot.co.uk/)

Acres of history: Hulusi, used in the improv gig which spawned Thought Forms' "Burn Me Clean" in 2010, and subsequently used at every one of their live shows for the next couple of years.

_tunic_ 08.02.2016 12:13 AM

I just did, even went over the top because I couldn't choose between a live CD and a T-shirt ;)
Looking forward to seeing them again, even though I would have rather wished to see them play a full set. Last time it was also as support for 65daysofstatic
I've never thought about that, that support act would be loosing money. I always thought that small support acts would somehow be funded by the main act or something like that.

_tunic_ 08.19.2016 03:25 AM

I tried listening to the new 65daysofstatic album, had to stop after 20 minutes.
Don't like it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgETpYjVjSo

it's a soundtrack for a computer game, says it all

_tunic_ 09.05.2016 11:43 AM

the latest update on their Plegde site says they will be joined by a bassist on the Euro tour with 65daysofbagels:

Quote:

Introducing Mardt Clancy

We’re really happy to tell you that on this tour, we’re going to be joined by our friend Mardt Clancy who will be helping us out by playing bass and synth.
This is our first time EVER touring as a four-piece and we’re really excited about sharing our new songs with you all!
Mardt plays bass in the Bristol based band VENA CAVA – you can check them out here :

hipster_bebop_junkie 09.07.2016 01:28 AM

Good news. I think initially the idea was to have their sound engineer, James King, as their only other crew member.

Speaking of Vena Cava (sort of): Christelle Atenstaedt has recently released a pretty neat cassette, "Hverir", under the moniker Twin, through Zam Zam Records (same label that released Deej Dhariwal's "My Father My Sun" last year):
https://zamzamrec.bandcamp.com/album/hverir

I just pledged to this Thought Forms campaign, finally. Pre-ordered the live CD, but will be back for more (the camera containing pictures of the tour, and the tour diary as well would be awesome to have). :)

Thought Forms - The Plug, Sheffield, England, 2016-11-16

in other news, one of my colleagues came to work in a 65daysofstatic shirt. Turns out she's a huge fan and went to see them twice last week when they played here. I didn't go even though I would have loved to see TF live again, I didn't feel like seeing 65daysofstatic.

I haven't received my orders yet from the pledge :-( Per haps they are still working on that live CD that I ordered ...

edit:
should have read this first

we’ll make sure that everything is with you by December 16th as promised on the Pledge page at time of order!

James's official middle name is 'the cunt', viz, James 'the cunt' King.

He also goes by the names of Jedward the Lion King and 'shagger'.

I don't really like to post on this forum anymore but the prospect of Statik being known by those names is appealing to me.

Oh, meanwhile - Mardt is a lush bloke who I've not seen for too long and that's sad. Vena Cava rule.
