That was my thinking too. It IS possible they're working on something but don't want to confuse the press with SYR9 (the SYR releases don't get the attention they deserve - if interviews were about an upcoming full-song-album thing, it would get even LESS).

Their general pattern seems to be, SY album, side projects, SY Album, side projects. So Im guessing there won't be an album til next year, or at the earliest, the end of this year..

I think Thurston will be too busy supporting his new solo album for Sonic Youth to even begin to record anything, but you never know.

This is probably the safe bet, they always do stuff in spring/summer because of Coco's schooling don't they? I think we'd have heard already if there was something planned for THIS summer. However that being said, Sway's right, someone (I think Thurston?) mentioned sometime last year that they were already working on new stuff and wanted to put out an album faster this time. So who knows?
