I've never worn sandals, so I'm not in a strong position to comment. Dunno why I've never worn them, though. Not my scene. I always think I'd feel very conspicuous or something. I'm not keen, either way. Cool enough though, I suppose, without socks. What I really object to is coats without hoods on. What is the point? Not that I ever wear a coat either, mind. This post best ignored I think, except I should have said that at the start.

But that aside, without coats with no hoods, there would be no Joy Division, no Echo and the Bunnymen, no northern music scene WHATSOEVER. And where would you be then? Eh? Eh? |
I don't know if they're "cool" or not, but they look okay, on men or women, as long they're not worn with socks--and depending on what they are, style, etc. I think most Tevas and Birks are okay. I usually wear sandals when I'm wearing shorts. It feels wrong to wear shoes with shorts.
At the same time, I have a hard time wearing sandals when I'm wearing pants or jeans. That feels wrong. |
some sandlas are ok but i hate those roman looking ones and sports ones are totaly fucking weird. i just realised i dont own a pair of shorts.
|
![]() these are the ones i was talking about. they are quite comfortable. and expensive. |

Yeah, I agree. Sort of the plainer and simpler, the better, I think. But not too plain. |

Classic. And classy. That's the basic Birk style I usually buy, although I like the kind with the strap behind the ankle, otherwise I tend to feel like I'm going to slip out of them when I walk. |

Those would look great with grey woolen socks! :D |
I'm no GQ fashion expert, but it seems to me for guys Birkenstocks are "nice" enough to wear in a casual office environment. It's the leather, I think, and the solid sole as well as the subdued color. Tevas would probably test the average office supervisor's patience, maybe.

well i can just wear whatever where i work, so they don't get their panties in a bunch. usually i wear boots though, no matter how hot it is. as of late i've been wearing those silver sparkly hooker boots.
|
That's cool. Nobody ever tells me I can or can't wear anything at work. We don't really have a dress code. It's just some things feel weird to wear. Those judgmental looks you get. Not that I care what they think. But I don't like the way I then feel self-conscious. Got those looks when I started wearing my band T's and Converse this summer. I thought they'd get used to it, but I started to get dumb comments, like, "so this is what this office has come to?" and shit like that. Idiots. So I've toned it down a bit.

That is pretty much what everyone wears where I work. I am a little more "out there" and I wear sparkly things and platform shoes and short dresses, not to mention the hair.
|
I'm gonna shave my head in a couple weeks. Or rather my barber will. I keep it short, but I'm really going for the 1/4 inch or less look, like a fuzzy tennis ball. They'll probably have something to say about that, too. That's the day I need to wear my Repeater T and blue Chucks.

I hate sandals...
|
When it's hot outside, though, they are so right.
|
I have never worn sandals in my life and I don't plan on starting now.
|
i've got a pair of flip flops that i throw on when i'm in hurry or i know i wont be outside for long.

No, that's when you wear your 22 hole Doc Martens, suspenders and Skrewdriver shirt. They won't dare say anything. Oh, and flipflops are second only to the 80s atrocities known as "jellies" on the unforgivably bad footwear scale. Other than for avoidance of athlete's foot in locker rooms, there is no conceivable excuse for wearing these abominations. |
feck
i have a lot to say in this thread to dispel ignorance on the subject, ha ha. sandals are very cool not a crime if worn with the right clothes & they look good. and of course no socks please. i wear sandals all summer because i don't like sweaty feet i refuse hippy sandals however-- im not a fucking hippy. birkenstocks sorry are for deadheads. i like a sandal that looks like a cool shoe, only with holes. ![]() ![]() (actually i prefer straps in the back in case i must flee from the cops) some brands i like skechers stonefly born doc martens makes some rugged looking ones but they are too stiff i wear comfortable flipflops inside the house but they are leather & look more or less like this: ![]() of course you can wear them to the beach, and no, you can't shower in them for the shower you can wear something like these: ![]() well fuck i can only post 4 pictures per thread but i hope you guys get the idea & not be such hicks when it comes to footwear. go live by the beach for a summer & ventilate your toes. |
