I do really like SYR 4. Itīs not as good as SYR 1-3 and Syr 7, but almost. It is same to me, is the music "high art" or "Straight rīnīr" or anything else, but if it makes me feel, itīs good. And Syr 4 really does! Syr5 is not as good as those others, but itīs ok. And I havenīt got yet SYR6 and SYR8, because thereīs still lots of vinyls (from other bands) I havenīt got. I think cd`s are much more easy to get than vinyls. Of course Iīm very curious about these missing SYR`s. Maybe buy them someday. |

agreeeeeeed. I mean, I absolutely adored THE ETERNAL. I rated it my favorite album of 2009. But y'know what I'd love? Some kind of amazing free jazz document ala SYR8. Or who knows? Something else that would really surprise me. Fuck! Even Mixtape #8 would make me hapy at this point. |
Although there has been little Sonic Youth activity in 2010, Text of Light, Northampton Wools, Hallogallo, The High Confessions, Ecstatic Peace Library, Mirror/Dash have all performed.

actually, if i remember correctly, Lee said in an interview a few months ago, that theyll start recording a new album sometimes during the summer.
so hopefully we wont have to wait for that for long.. |
even if there's no music, what happned to
Sonic Youth - Soundtracks Series Vol. 1: Made in USA + Spinhead Sessions (2CD) Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Live (DVD, ATP?) Sonic Youth - Screaming Fields of Sonic Love (DVD) |
Any of those three would be more than well recieved I'm sure.
As for my controversial SYR comments: SYR 4 was just unlistenable at several points, there were interesting parts, but there were just too many parts that were just agonizing in both their unpleasentness and pretense. SYR 5 was just unlistenable garbage. The songs that were good always went on for way too long, and the songs that weren't good were really fucking awful. I sold it. SYR 6.. I heard at a record store.. wasn't thrilled with it, but probably shsould pick it up and listen to it on headphones and try to absorb it. SYR7 had a really weak first side, with Sonic Youth just sort of failing at drone, just sort of plinking around to moderately heavy distortion.. I don't know its been a while since I listened to it, but the first side did nothing for me. I LOVE 1-3 and 8 though. |

I'll probably pull out the vinyl tonight.

you guys need to wake up from a night of hard drinking and put on TREES OUTSIDE THE ACADEMY.
BLAST IT AS LOUD AS IT GOES, while every other jackass in the house is hungover... like 8 or 9 am sunday morning.... just lay down and listen and dream for a few more hours... SYR 2012z R going to be transcendental!!!!!! (breath and wait for it, Music is a natural dynamic of creativity in the solar cycle!) |

This is the single best reason I have ever heard to give SYR5 another chance. Hell, I'm even gonna order the vinyl. Srsly. |
