who exactly are we running from?

I don't think they've seen us.

I really enjoy a good run... I feel great afterward. It's been a while though, as lately it fucking kills me/my back/my stomach. :(

I had a go at it last spring, but after a few months I found myself incredibly angry and frustrated at the end each time. Just from the fuck-ups that would happen along the way - the pains, the being short of breath one day way too soon compared to other days - all those of ups and downs. There was no adrenaline high. Just more stress.

I'm a walker.

did you have a good pair of trainers? it can make a world of difference, if you didnt..

I look ridiculous when I run. Its just so unnatural for me.

Indeed. It always kills me when people say "Oh, I got no time for exercise"......I mean, we are only talking about YOUR LIFE!!! It is a challenge to get into it, and I do recommend a walk-run program initially.

Me too, actually, hahahaha.

Under 2hrs.....nice! 10km goal? What kind of weekly training do you do?

My fastest Half is 71:11. But anyone who completes a Half, especially sub 2, has done a very fine thing!

Maybe you need to try a different kind of "go". I can recommend a walk/run program if you guys wish.

I'm not too ambitious, and I'm not massively competitive, so under an hour should be fine for the 10k. Training for the half marathon was every other day, 2 short runs, a big run on the weekend then 2 days off. I think the thing that really helped was one of those really painful ones - 2 minutes at full pelt, 2 minutes of gentle jogging, for 20 minutes. But I had access to a treadmill then, where that sort of thing is a lot easier to do, which I don't this time.

My family has a lot of runners. My dad and aunt run in the LA marathon ofrom time to time as well as other races. I was one of the best on my middle school long-distance running team. Since high school, however, I've been a lot more head-spacey. A poor showing on my track team also was rather discouraging.

I'm sure I will take up running as a routine once I have a more independent living. It's in the blood.

I run a bit.... well, let's say I recently started again after slacking for too long. I've never been really fanatic, my best period was a couple of years ago when I would run 10km in about 55 minutes 2-3 times a week.

At the moment I'm far away from that and really need to push myself to put on my trainers sometimes, whereas in the past there were weeks when I'd feel the urge to go out running every day. I guess that feeling will come back again when my condition has improved a bit and the weather gets gradually better.

Running during winter is just shit, there's either too much snow (=slippery roads) or too much rain. I don't mind running in the rain during spring or summer, but during cold winters... fuck that.

Somebody should bump this thread in the summer to motivate us all!
