this week I bought a cassette by Arrington De Dionyso's Malaikat dan Singa about 4$, its still great |
CASSETTE is a feature-length documentary that celebrates the past, present, and future of an endearing musical format.

nothing bumps harder in a good car sound system other than a pioneer tape deck. switching to cds and ipod has had certain perks, however the over all thundering low end of the cassette is unchallenged even by digital. also, I have only one word to explain the thriving of the cassette.. Africa ;)

The mix tapes shown there include, among others, Johnny Thunders' "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory", the Minutemen, the Stones' "Beast Of Burden" and the Raincoats' "Fairytale in the Supermarket". Not bad at all! |
Cassettes are my favorite format. They fit in your pocket, they're easily recordable, they're great. There are always blank ones at the Salvation Army by my house, so I always nab 'em when I can.

I've been enjoying the small printing cassette release by Tom Carter and mv/ee and Ecstatic Peace over the past few years - I tell people, sometimes I just want to listen to music, I don't want to wait while the cd loads or the file loads and fight the drivers and all the digital shit that keep me waiting when I want IMMEDIATE relief. I've got lots of cassettes from the 80s that still play fine.
