There is an actual convention on this: in the acting world, because the roles are, effectively, gender-neutral, men and women are referred to in the gender-neutral 'actors'. Obviously, it's not that men get women's roles or vice versa, but so as to show that there is no implicit natural gender hierarchy to a role.

In the porn industry, there is a huge difference between what a man does and what a woman does - obviously, there is the blurring of passive/ active roles, and infrequent forays into the trans-genderism - but, essentially, a person fits a role because of their gender. There is a very iffy argument that says that the porn industry is one of the few 'work' places where women are invested with lots of advantages - I have a good friend who gets paid, in the 'adult' industry, about 2 1/2 times what the blokes get (and they get a lot of money). Anyway, the point is - in porn the name is 'actresses', because there is a difference in the genders/ roles.
