Pierce and Kember are in a legal dispute with Gerald Palmer and the label Space Age Recordings, who are putting out three Spacemen 3 releases on Record Store Day.

The statement reads as such: "We would seriously like to ask fans not to buy the Spacemen 3 releases and any merchandise that are being offered for sale on Record Store Day or any other Spacemen 3 releases and merchandise offered by Gerald Palmer on Space Age Recordings or any other subsidiary of that label. We are currently in legal dispute with Gerald Palmer due to him depriving us of our rights in our music and other intellectual property rights relating to Spacemen 3. Any monies from those sales will go directly to him and help fund his side of the dispute. In short... PLEASE DON'T BUY OUR RECORDS FROM SPACE AGE RECORDINGS!"

I read about this. Kember's been making the rounds on message boards and stuff, telling the story of "professional Spacemen 3 rapist" Palmer.

He's not a very eloquent chap, Kember. At least not in his written messages, which could easily be the work of an eight-grader.

Still, I won't be doing my beloved Spacemen any damage by purchasing any of their RSD treats. Not that I'm going to be buying ANY RSD treats. Fuck RSD. I hate the mobs and all the stupid shit. I'll get the Prince EP when it comes out legally ( ;) ) and I'll get the Flaming Lips thing later on eBay or something. I forget what else I wanted. Oh! The Thelonious Monk thing! Yeah! But that's out already, so... fuck it.

Anyway, I do have a LOT of Spacemen 3 booty, and I wonder if all of it is legit. I have a couple re-issues that I believe are from Space Age (I'd have to check to be sure) so I'm kinda wondering if I haven't already participated in the unwitting rape-by-proxy of one of my best bands.

BTW: Spacemen 3 have to have one of the greatest band logos of all time, don't you think?

Crowded as all possibly at my little local, had some great conversations while waiting for it to open, everyone was really cool and everyone appeared to have a great time. Good to see people respectfully crowding! Plus, GOT THE MERIDITH MONK 1971 REMASTER!!
