The whole term is bullshit. If talking about personal issues is emo, then most bands are.

Thanks/word, dude.
How's about we completely eliminate this fucking stupid term from our entire existence.

this is always such aq misconception. take standing by the sea on zen arcade. probably the most emotional song on the album but it isnt emo. its more of a ballad type song if not definitvely a ballad.

I have no point really, but you can see what i'm getting at - someone smarter can try and articulate it if they want.

comparing Pride on Zen Arcade to Heroin and Mohinder for example:

octave chords

Is Michael Bolton emo? Cuz by these guidelines, he technically is.

'How Am I Supposed To Live Without You?' is soooo gutwrenchingly emo...

Androol 03.04.2007 06:33 AM

Absolutely.

Emo appeared in 86 during revolution summer in WDC with Rites of Spring and Embrace. It lasted just about the summer. Then somewhere down the line in the early 90's seriously super lame shit appropriated the expression.

demonrail666 03.07.2007 07:49 PM

In that case, aren't Swans like Emo with a Masters degree?
