yeah, that's pretty true.

louder 06.13.2012 09:07 PM

Derek, you've been chasing me around the forum for a few months now, constantly crying for attention, then counting on SpaceCadetHayden to back you up, or just starting to talk about how you were/are friends with atsonicpark for no reason. if you really were as cool as you always claim to be, you wouldn't find it so necessary to impress a bunch of strangers on an internet forum all the time. think about it.

louder 06.13.2012 09:15 PM

also, i'd like to see you criticizing my list without making a fool out of yourself. then i might gain some respect to you.

Derek 06.13.2012 09:44 PM

modern hip-hop classics:

Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens
- haven't heard.

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
- a classic definitely, this was the album that made me realise just how important the neptunes sound was to music in those years.

Common - Like Water for Chocolate
- another classic, probably my favourite common record behind 'be' (which apparently is an unpopular opinion but whatever).

The Diplomats - Diplomatic Immunity
- not heard.

Ghostface Killah - Fishscale
- it's decent. i think it's kinda weird to throw this in when 'ironman' and 'supreme clientele' are everything you could want in a hip hop record.

Jay-Z - The Blueprint
- jay-z is pretty consistent, you could put a number of his records here. no complaints.

Kanye West - Late Registration
- i'd say 'the college dropout' is a better record, but you can't really go wrong with this record either.

Madvillain - Madvillainy
- always thought this record was overrated but then again, madlib and doom have always been overrated to me despite being great at their craft.

OutKast - Stankonia
- this is a weird pick. out of their pre-'hey ya' albums, i'd say this one was the worst. it still has it's merit but i think they dumbed themselves down a little (and fair play to them for selling millions doing it).

newskool essentials ('10-pres):

Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot
- pretty good. i wasn't expecting it to be great because andre 3000 was always the more interesting character out of the duo, but big boi can of course hold his own. i prefer it when the two are working together though ('roses' was the best song out of their double album and that's probably because it was the only song where they both had presence).

Big K.R.I.T - Return of 4eva
- not heard.

Curren$y - Pilot Talk
- curren$y is cool with me and i like some of the stuff here, but it's a pretty mediocre record.

Danny Brown - XXX
- probably the most interesting rapper of this decade so far. no complaints.

Drake - Take Care
- awful, insufferable garbage.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
- definitely a modern masterpiece. no one expected this after his weird break-up record.

Killer Mike - R.A.P Music
- it's good but it only really holds up for a few listens. it's a total sugar rush record.

///

also, i have barely been at this forum the past few months. it's somewhat akin to checking my myspace at this point so i'm not 'chasing you around' nor am i trying to impress an internet forum all the time. i just tell 'em how i see 'em.

louder 06.13.2012 10:16 PM

cool. now i see that for the most part, you find my list pretty solid. hence why i thought your previous comments were so childish and annoying. you should've just made this post instead. and listened to Below the Heavens because it's simply one of the greatest rap albums of all time.

Aquemini is way better than Stankonia. the only reason i put it in my list was because it came out in the 00's and The Love Below is more like a psychedelic pop album.

i liked Take Care's sound from the beginning, but it took me a while to admit it's just a great record. whether you like it or not, it's the soundtrack to the Twitter/FB-era generation. it's going to age extremely well.

you need to work on that though. for starters, figure out how to make your remarks on people without being so cringeworthy.

sure, you don't post here often, but every time you do makes us feel like we're in a remake of Mean Girls. except instead of being a "bitch" (which Hayden excels at), you just come off as dorky and awkward.

if you come at louder's café like that, you better step your game up.

Derek??? He's a lovely boy!

Genteel death is totally "Mean Girls" though. All he posts are quips and insulting remarks. At first I thought he was just a frustrated kid, late teens or low 20's, who tended toward Grumpy-Gus snarkiness. I thought it was kinda cute actually! But now he's starting to be the type of person that people stay away from online-forums just to avoid.

I hope his home life is ok. Genuinely... because he acts like a frustrated college drop-out with or an ax to grind, and he grinds it with invisible people because he perceives them as both harmless and immune to being/feeling harm.

But Derek > Genteel. Far and away. Sorry genteel! I like you and enjoy your posts when they're not a) cut/pastes from other users and nothing more b) insults aimed at users in discussion you weren't even part of or c) taking up space to insult the forum as a whole. Sounds like a pretty unhappy guy. :(

Next time, Genteel, just open up and tell use what you're feeling and maybe we can help, because the insults are objectively lame and usually desperate sounding. Get happy!!!;)

SpaceCadetHayden 06.14.2012 01:05 AM

uhm there is no Mista Thug Isolation on this list so it's null and void because that is an important record.

I also don't appreciate being called a bitch it makes me think of like drag queens or something but Mean Girls is a great movie I'm Regina George okay

Hi sweets. You're all like a bunch of faggots fighting over the same unwashed dick.

louder 06.14.2012 04:44 AM

still not sure what Genteel had to do with anything.

Genteel Death 06.14.2012 04:58 AM

You guys treat us girls like shit round here. I may be only 17 but I am not a moronic, pretentious bitch like E. Noisefield.

truncated 06.14.2012 05:03 AM

And now, back to WHAT'S RELEVANT HERE,

Thank you. I truly would appreciate that. What a nice young man you are.

It makes me laugh to see you children bickering. Had you been around on the board many moons ago like us old fogies, you'd have seen some real maligning and shit-throwing.

Oh, you kids.
