wikipedia says you're only 24, that's a bit young for me, but you look a lot older, so it's ok

Toilet & Bowels 09.22.2009 06:27 PM

how come you never did a topless shoot for Nuts, that would have kept me quiet for months

Toilet & Bowels 09.22.2009 06:28 PM

back to the good era

I've said this before, but ... Amelle Berrabah!

still, it's true Sugarbabes were no longer any good after Mutya left.

There was a time when I would've cared, but I went to a 'babes gig a few years ao, and it was dull dull dull. Too much R&B, far too little pop, which was what I was there for. And the recent material has been dross.

As an aside, the new Cheryl Cole stuff is pretty crap too. Why do all our best pop acts eventually feel the need to become poor Destinys Child imitations?

I think that's always been a bit of a sticking point for me with Sugababes - they just want to be 'credible' R&B a bit too much. I think we're capable of some great R&B - Mis-teeq were easily one of the best pop live shows I've seen (insanely loud) and a lot of the UK garage thing (specifically So Solid and fallout thereof) was brilliant.

But there does come a point where the proper pop thing turns to R&B in a bid for credibility. Strangely, this really works for some Americans - Britney's last couple of albums shit on her earlier stuff, Justin Timberkins made the transition nicely, Christina A I don't really like but I know a lot of people do. I just don't think Brits are very convincing. Basically, you'd never get St Etienne or Pet Shop Boys trying to be credible, which is ultimately why they turn out proper, decent pop (with periodic lapses).

I don't think the Cheryl Cole single is all that bad, it's just not all that amazing either. Not sure about the Hitler moustaches on the video either.

A friend of mine bumped into Mutya once. Apparently she smelt horrible.
Like fish gone bad. True story.

Some of you might think it all went wrong when their management started dicking about with ripping songs off of adverts (girls or whatever it was called from last year). Some of you might think it all ended when Siobhan left (2001!). Personally, it was all about 'face like a slapped arse' Mutya. The post-Mutya era had some good things ('about you now'), there wasn't really anything that touched Round round, Overload or Push the Button.

So, basically, it's looking like good British pop has lost a leading light and I'm going to have to start paying attention to American RnB again until Girls Aloud have another record.

Bollocks.

Sucks. I love their Life's Too Good album, though I think Bjork is much more interesting as a solo artist.

Oh, lol Gumqueue. But the correct indie prick answer was 'I'd really lost interest by the time Holiday in Europe came out'.

Interesting leg tat. I'm not one for large tats but somehow that one works. works quite well as a matter of fact...

I have become a fan of Cheryl Cole in one afternoon of intense watching her best and worst TV moments by accident and curiousity, recently. Isn't she a total sweetheart?
