wait until Curry ditches his team to join up with another, win a championship, then come back to his team expecting a boatload of money......

Basketball is dead anyways. Any sport where only 5 out of 34 teams is actually in competition for the championship from the start of the season is a fucking JOKE.

Well isn't that really every sport? What sport has more than a handful of legit contenders?

I've actually been thinking this has been one of the overall better seasons in recent memory.

Those seventeen 50's across the top of my last post represents the 17 straight seasons the San Antonio Spurs have won 50 or more games.

Golden States schedule is about to become a bit easier as they close out their final 24 four games of the season......only seven remaining road games.

The Warriors have as many road victories (29) as the Houston Rockets have wins (29).

Curry has 24 games to add to his NBA record 3-pointers made for the season. Let's say he reaches 350 3-pointers made, is beating the old record by 64 3-pointers equivalent to a MLB hitter breaking Barry Boands All-Time home run record by hitting 74 home runs? What if Curry makes 400 3-pointers, beating the record by 114 made shots......what do you compare that to?

People love to debate today's game versus the good old days. Styles and rules have changed and teams / players adjust. One thing that hasn't changed is the circumference of the rim or it's height (10 feet). Curry is hands down the best shooter in the history of the game and he will be re-writing history for years to come.

Rob Instigator 03.01.2016 10:54 AM

B-Ball is the worst of the lot when it comes to that. NFL has new teams fade and rise every year. Baseball as well. Basketball is the only one where people assume., and are usually correct, that one or two teams will be the ones in the Finals, before they even play a game!

It is not because the game is bad. It is a combination of the egos of players who think they are "too good" to go play in small markets, and the focus of the NBA itself in selling hyped up bullshit "superstars" instead of selling teh concept of team game. If they did that then San Antonio would be rightfully hailed as the greatest team every year.

the ball that the Warriors are playing is very similar to the ball that the Olajuwon Rockets played, except for the lack of a center. Instead of gong in the out to the 3 pt shooters, the Warriors use ball handling all aruond the court. It is a beautiful thing to watch. It does not help though that the defensive half of the game has gone downhill so quickly, partly becaus eof rule changes, and partly because the NBA does not place value on the gritty hardcore players who will give up their bodies to allow the team to win.

Rob Instigator 03.01.2016 10:56 AM

Can you imagine what someone like Dennis Rodman would do in today's NBA? Either he would fould out every game or he would destroy fools in the rebound game.....

This two game stat is mind blowing to me.

How about this for perspective......you could take the three best shooters from each NBA team during practice / shoot-around and I'm guessing NOT ONE could make 22 out of 31 three pointers with no one guarding them.

Bytor Peltor 03.01.2016 11:20 AM

Curry made more 3 pointers LAST WEEK than Michael Jordan did in 11 of his 15 seasons.

The Minnesota Timberwolves TEAM have combined for 16 more 3-pointers made than Curry......but it's required them taking 300 more attempts than Curry.

Rob Instigator 03.01.2016 11:46 AM

take a look at LeBron quittin on Defense..

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.01.2016 01:44 PM

Sure but how many times have we seen an amazing chase down block by Lebron? Have we ever even seen curry play elite defense?

Rob Instigator 03.01.2016 01:58 PM

I have not seen Curry play elite defense, but can you imagine when he ups his defense game?

Frankly, it is up to the opposing teams to wear Curry out by forcing him to play defense, but the NBA does not play actual basketball anymore (apart from the Spurs Warriors and maybe the Thunder...). The NBA is a isolation league, and it SUCKS. It forces the team to suck the asshole of the "star" which is how Hall of Famer McHale got fired and why the Rockets are shopping Howard around. Fucking Harden pushes his own agenda, just like all the so-called "stars" do these days. They care more about the endorsements and a "brand" name than playing the sport they supposedly love.

Isaiah Thomas would have made Curry look like a little BITCH.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.01.2016 02:12 PM

Dude do you even watch the Thunder? They are one of worst offenders when it comes to hero ball. This is a ball moving NBA, few teams use iso plays. Indeed even Cleveland moves yhe ball more then their reputation, its just in the Finals those drawn out 20 second off the clock iso plays was the best strategy to beat Warriors (and it still is)...

I love ball movement, my criticism of Warriors is they don't play "fundamental" basketball. They throw it in the post not to make a post up but to open up the perimeter for yet another three pointer!!

To me, a team that shoots more 3s than it does dunks and layups is just as boring to watch as a peak hero ball iso team from 2007 no matter how much they fling the ball around

THIS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID WHEN ESPN FANBOYS RANKED CURRY 4TH ALL TIME PG ABOVE ISIAH THOMAS. i was like hey thomas was actually a TWO WAY player and couldn't hide behind Klay Thompson to play his defense for him ;)

Isiah would have definitely crushed Curry.. can you imagine what Jordan would have done defensively against Curry?

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.01.2016 02:18 PM

Say what you want about kobe or lebron but at least when they were the face of the NBA (a) they played elite defense and (b) we have no doubts about their physicality and so have no doubts that they could have survived playing in 80s or 90s whereas Curry or even Harden? Them guys are as Bird would say s-o-f-t

I think half the NBA would still take Lebron over Curry. Steph is phenomenal, but clearly thrives in a particular system and lineup. You transplant him to the Lakers and he ain't making the playoffs. You put Lebron on Lakers they might even make it to the second round! #Facts #LebronIsTwoWayPlayer #ManUpOnDefenseSteph

Bytor Peltor 03.03.2016 09:51 PM

Last night, the Houston Rockets made NBA History......they were 3 of 34 for the three point line. That is 9% shooting, the worst of any team taking 30 or more three point shots.

......the NBA has NEVER had an unanimous MVP for the season.

Yeah but this is hyperbole era of NBA where the media be swallowing the D of whatever "it" team it is and so it wouldn't be surprising if they disrespect all the othergreat players and all vote for Curry just because. I mean even Jordan never got unanimous votes and if anyone honestly ever deserved such its Jordan over Curry all day everyday.

I'd still take Lebron over Curry but since im biased ill say id take Westbrook over Curry too.. again somebody got to play defense yo

The league has NEVER had a team go undefeated at home during the regular season......Golden State and San Antonio both remain unbeaten at home.

Last night, Golden State tied the Chicago Bulls NBA record by winning their 44th straight regular season home game. Golden State will go for the record when they host Orlando on Monday night.

Kevin Durant
Russell Westbrook
Serge Ibaka
Enis Kanter
Dion Walters

Here is the kicker......this lineup above has only played in 18 of OKC's 33 games this season, crushing opponants by a whopping 52 points.

The not so good side of OKC......Thunder are now tied with the 76ers for most losses when entering the 4th quarter and leading this season.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.04.2016 01:58 PM

Im starting to ignore the win-loss records at this point because they are so unprecedented that we just don't know what they mean yet. Are they inflated by beating weak teams or are weak teams not actually weak but rather have bad records because they are getting smashed by all time great teams. Its a legit stats based question to ask. After all even the Bulls win records were in part inflated by a poorer quality NBA because of expansion teams

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.04.2016 02:00 PM

For example two seasons ago in NFL the AFC North had best overall record but analysts said it was smoke and mirrors from feasting on a weak NFC South. However in hindsight we see that the 6-9-1 Panthers and 6-10 Falcons were statistically better teams than their records and in actuality were just getting destroyed by the AFC North.

Bytor Peltor 03.05.2016 04:16 AM

With Atlanta beating the Lakers last night, the Lakers clinched their 3rd straight losing season at home......by comparison, the LA Lakers had 3 losing seasons at home in previous 65 years.

Also last night, Damian Lillard become the 2nd player in Trail Blazers history with 2 career 50-point games.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.06.2016 08:20 PM

Haha warriors so you wanted a "historic season"????

How about falling victim to the WORST STATISTICAL UPSET IN NBA history!!!

This was the biggest gap in win-record percentage in an upset EVER! Elias hasn't reported yet but I'm willing to wager it might even be an all time record for ANY sport when you factor in where it occurred in the season!

Doing my best SuchFriends impersonation......maybe Steve Kerr doesn't want Golden State to beat his Bulls team record :D

OK - back to all things serious......

Back in 96, the Miami Heat beat the record breaking Bulls with the Heat dressing only eight players. Via trade, Tony Smith flew across country from Phoenix to Miami on the day the game was played. Smith scored a season high 16 while Jordan had 31. Miami won the game dropping the Bulls record to 48-6, the Heat were 25-29.

61st game of the season

1995-96 Bulls entered 54-6, lost at Knicks by 32

2015-16 Warriors entered 55-5, lost at Lakers by 17

This is not Elias official, but it is from a Vegas betting blog and backs up what SuchFriends was willing to bet:

First time ever a .900 team loses to sub .200......minimum 50 games played.

Warriors Losses This Season
Mavericks 12th in win pct
Trail Blazers T-13th
Pistons 16th
Bucks 21st
Nuggets 24th
Lakers 29th

Largest deficits faced entering 4th quarter
Warriors this season

Trail Blazers 25
Mavericks 19
Lakers 11

Warriors are 0-4 when facing a double-digit deficit entering the fourth quarter this season......Dubs trailed the Lakers by 11 after three, 84-73

Warriors' kryptonite

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.07.2016 11:12 AM

I think it goes without saying that warriors losses are all playing down to competition BUT this is important because they are getting so cocky that in playoffs they might just assume that all teams are inferior and completely underestimate the Spurs or Cavs

Tonight on ABC, will the Spurs stay unbeaten at home or does Golden State get it's first win in San Antonio since 1997 (0-32).

Earlier this week, Golden State Warriors extend home winning streak to 50 games......have 6 wins by 30+ points this season, most in the NBA.

The Hornets 15-4 since start of February......only GSW and Spurs have been better.

The hornets are an interesting wild card in the East. Semis looks increasingly like Cavs Heat and Hornets Raptors.

I don't bother with the west, this Warriors thing is simply ad nauseam so i just ignore it and keep with the other teams in NBA who i find more interesting

Bytor Peltor 03.21.2016 05:27 PM

Over the past 50 years, only four NBA players 37 years of age or older have scored 40+ points in a game: Kareem, Malone, Jordan & Dirk.

Saturday night was the first time this season the Warriors have lost to a top-10 team in the NBA (19-1).

Spurs: 44 straight home wins is tied with the 1994-96 Bulls for the 2nd-longest home win streak in NBA history.

On Friday night in Dallas, Golden State had 73 points at halftime.
Saturday night in San Antonio, Golden State scored a game total 79 points.

For the first time since ABC started the Saturday night games, Defense was on full display!

It was a little odd not seeing the likes of Duncan nor Ginobli on the court during the final 5+ minutes of the 4th Quarter.

If you expect Curry/Klay to go 2-16 from 3-point land four times in a series, then sure the Spurs will win......but they won't!

As we close in on the end of the season and the All-NBA Team decisions are made, which Forward (there can only be two) gets shafted:

Kawhi Leonard
Kevin Durant
LeBron James

Tim Duncan has passed Gary Payton for 10th on the NBA's all-time minutes played list tonight in Charlotte.

Hornets are 16-4 since Feb 6, only 1 game worse than the Spurs, who they just rallied from 23 down to beat.

The Spurs led by 21 at the end of the 1st quarter. They were 22-0 in team history when leading by at least 20 after 1.

With the Spurs loss tonight, 5 of the 7 teams to beat the Warriors this season have gone on to lose their next game.

Last team to score 7 or fewer in a first quarter and win ... Jazz against the Nets on Dec. 17, 2008 (trailed 27-7 after 1, won 103-92)

Jeremy Lin, who came off the bench, outscored San Antonio's bench 29-18. Spurs entered the game 3rd in the NBA in bench scoring at 39.7 PPG.

The Warriors are now 7-0 in games following losses this season.

The 76ers have lost 23 of last 25 games (6 straight); haven't beaten a team other than the Nets
since Jan. 26

Cavaliers have won 50 of their first 70 games for just the 4th time in franchise history (LeBron has played on 3 of these 4 teams)

Cavaliers clinched the division title; 4th straight division title in seasons with LeBron on roster.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.21.2016 11:33 PM

It feels increasingly like Cavs got my memo to lose some time in the playoffs, get humbled, then aim for next season.

Bytor Peltor 03.24.2016 01:25 PM

Last night, Golden State swept their season series against the Clippers for the 1st time since the 1986-87 season.

For the 35th time this season, Curry scored 30 or more points in a game.

Warriors are 12-1 against the NBA's top 6 teams this season

Clippers are 2-12

Warriors are now 64-7, best 71-game start in NBA history!

Consecutive Wins When Taking 15-point lead last 20 Seasons (Reg Season/Playoffs)

2004-07 Spurs 112
1998-02 Mavericks 111
2014-16 Warriors 110

Kerr - no rest for Curry, Golden State going for 73

If the season ended today, the Houston Rockets would miss the playoffs. However, Houston is only a half-game back of the 7th & 8th spots and hold tiebreakers against Utah & Dallas.

GM / Lue concerned about LeBron's Behavior......is this the beginning of the end?

Rob Instigator 03.24.2016 02:27 PM

This does appear to be the better alternative than being humiliated by Golden State in the First Round.

If Dwight Howard is leaving at the end of the season, he's not helping his Free Agent cause at all......hasn't scored double digits in back-2-back games in previous eight games. Five of those eight games were single digit scoring.

NO LeBron when the Rockets play at Cleveland tonight......NOTE: Toronto is just two games behind Cleveland for the best record in the East.

IF Golden State wins tonight hosting Washington, The Warriors will join the Chicago Bulls as the only two franchises to win 67+ games in consecutive seasons. Golden State (66-7) reached 67 wins in the final game last season.

For Golden State to NOT surpass the Bulls 72 wins for a season, GSW would need to lose 3 of it's remaining nine games......all season long, The Warriors worst stretch was losing 3 out of 11 games.

For the first time in his carrier, Klay Thompson scored 40 points in consecutive games.

Curry has NINE remaining games to make 400 3-points in a season. If he continues at his current average of 5 made 3-pointers per game, he ends the season with 395 3-pointers. I'm guessing Curry will up his average to reach or possibly surpass 400 made 3-pointers for the season.

Tuesday night in Ckeveland, the Rockets were down 19 at halftime, down 20 in the 3rd Q and somehow outscored the Cavs 32-8 in the paint to win......and Dwight Howard only had 11 points in the game.

Rockets now just two games behind Portland for the 6th seed, host the Chicago Bulls tonight.

68-7 the Warriors are now 61 games over .500
Just the 6th team in NBA history to win 68 regular season games.

Curry now has 75 career 6 3-pointer games......nobody else in NBA history has more than 50 such games.

Draymond and Steph remain on pace for +1000 each, and are by far top 2 in +/- per minute.

Draymond Green has become the first player in NBA history with

1,000 points
500 rebounds
500 assists
100 steals

With Kevin Durant active the last 2 seasons, the Thunder have won over 70 percent of their games (67-27)......without him, they're 30-33.

Gregg Popovich, on what the Spurs' 38-0 home record is worth: "Maybe a cup of coffee. Maybe."

You know who’s probably the MOST upset about this D’Angelo Russell/Lakers story?
Kobe......it's stealing his shine on his "farewell" tour.

During final play of the game:

Golden State became the first team to make 20+ 3-pointers and lose a game......Dubs with 22 turnovers.

Last night, LeBron passed Oscar Robinson on the NBA points scored list.

LeBron James has 129 games w/at least 20 points & 10 assists - 96 more than next-closest Forward in last 30 yrs (Bird, 33 games)

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 04.02.2016 02:01 PM

Haha Warriors got exposed. Yes it is one game. But every Warriors loss has common theme. A gritty physical defense from teams with length and not losing composure when warriors make their runs. Its also how Griz and Cavs spotted 2-1leads on Warriors last playoffs. I see dubs winning the chip this season BUT they have a mortality to certain matchups. I think Spurs can beat them in WCF and i think Cavs can actually beat Spurs in 7 games
