J. Cole's new album "Born Sinner" is about to be flames. love all the songs he's dropped lately.

his debut was decent and i'm a fan of his mixtapes, but now he's gotten so much better.

i can definitely see why he's confident enough to drop his album the same day as Ye.

Tyler the genius.

louder 06.07.2013 02:35 AM

okay the new Cole leaked. it's not as great as i expected, but solid nevertheless. a good mix of religion themes and 90's/early 00's hip-hop nostalgia. reminds me a lot of "Jesus Piece" to be honest, so i figure NR might dig it.

louder 06.07.2013 03:32 AM

oh and "Born Sinner" is actually much better than Jesus Piece, it's exactly what i wanted Game to do but his album turned out to be a major letdown.

EDIT: Cole just uploaded the whole album to his soundcloud page. https://soundcloud.com/j-cole/sets/born-sinner/s-dZ7oW

halfway into 2013, my favs so far:

1. Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap
2. ASAP Rocky - Long Live A$AP
3. The Underachievers - Indigoism
4. J. Cole - Born Sinner
5. Ghostface Killah - Twelve Reasons to Die
6. Tyler, the Creator - Wolf
7. Big K.R.I.T. - King Remembered in Time

but in a week and a half, Yeezus is gonna blow them all out of the water.

louder 06.08.2013 01:06 AM

Mac's song with Jay E finally dropped. INCREDIBLE!

1. I think it's alright.
2. My #1.
3. I think it's ok.
4. haven't heard.
5. Love it.
6. Think it's very good.
7. On my phone, but haven't listened yet.

noisereductions 06.08.2013 06:28 PM

interesting choice on Gravediggaz track. There's probably a half dozen or more on 6 Feet Deep I'd rank much higher though.

Love A$AP though. LongLive and LiveLove are both incredible to me.

Thank god I'm not the only one. PMW is such a douchy track that I got bored after that. Comeone what are you 17?

louder 06.09.2013 02:33 AM

well i like to listen to music that makes me feel like a child. Rocky and Cudi aren't the best rappers with the most brilliant lyrics, but i find it nice to just get trapped in the atmosphere when i listen to their albums. 1 Train is the posse cut of the year. plus you can tell he at least tried on tracks like Suddenly, Phoenix and Jodye. solid album, in my opinion.

don't expect another Return of 4Eva but it's decent enough. Krit never drops a wack project.

word. I thnk Rocky is a good rapper. Not phenomenal, but def talented. But more than anything he makes some serious "turn that shit up and zone out" music. His beat selection is legit. It just puts you in a certain place.

So I'm not the only one who likes Cudi? That's a relief.

As much as Marlyn Manson is a total deuche, I was thinking just the polar OPPOSITE, "Why fuck up a perfectly good Marlyn Manson song with a whack rapping Gucci?"

Gucci is some bullshit yo. Y'all generally be bumping that bitch-made shit here on SYG like Drake and Gucci, boss up y'all game folkz, there is some SUBSTANTIVE rap music out there, and then there are lamez out there just rapping bout how much cheese they've stashed under they mattress from a bunch of lopz buying they lame a$$ "albums" ;)

Me, Ima dip into the the real OG shit..

"Oh no.. its 98 y'all!"..
What y'all ninjaz know bout that grown folks muzik like that Quik yo?

Severian 06.09.2013 06:48 PM

Oh, and my top five so far:

1. GHOSTFACE - 12 Reasons to Die (what the fuck is wrong with you all? I thought this was the obvious choice, but apparently I'm the only person who didn't stop listening to this album after a week. Did nobody else catch him perform this thing live?)

2. Chance - Acidrap
3. LongLiveA$AP (slowly slipping as more hip hop albums come out... Would have been easy #1 before 12 Reasons.)
4. Tree- Sunday School II
5. Indigoism

Tyler is absent be because the more I listen to Wolf, the more it sounds like Eminem did once he started thinking of himself as important and lost his sense of humor. It'll probably be a #5 again soon, but right now it sounds like something written by (and for) high school dropouts. I'm sorry, but the disappointment of this album was huge, especially after Channel Orange set the bar higher for OF releases.

To call Tyler the RZA of the era is absolutely ridiculous. RZA is incapable of producing beats monotonous as those on Wolf. I still like the album, but it doesn't even hold my interest for the length of its duration. Meanwhile, I listened to Wu-Tang Forever all week, and never skipped a track. (Mind you if was the only cd in my car)

And stranger even than all that, I'm actually really warming to Indicud and even I Am Not a Human Being II.

the first Man on the Moon is great. the second one was a grower for me and now i love it, so maybe i'll see the light with Indicud as well.

"Honestly, when I listen to radio, that ain't where I wanna be no more," said Kanye West during a brief-but-potent bit of banter in the middle of his Governors Ball set last night, talking about his unconventional, radio-single-free marketing strategy leading up to his new album Yeezus. "At this point, I could give a fuck about selling a million records, as long as I put out an album that you can rock to all motherfucking summer." And based on the five new tracks played last night-- "New Slaves", "Black Skinhead", and three others-- it's probably good that he doesn't have his sights set on multi-platinum status this time, because Yeezus is shaping up to be his most outré album yet. The previously unheard songs were all about desperation, ice-pick synths, and convulsing drums, something like a hyperkinetic version of 808s & Heartbreak's relatively dour robo-paranoia."
