that's a hilarious comparison vs. the men. true on the theatrics.

yeah, i wasn't saying it wasn't worth watching-- just taking insurance vs. some of the criticisms i've heard.

the truth is i've wanted to watch this since much earlier but i've been copa-america'd.

so--you watching the final?

I would've watched that had it been on tv. However, seeing as there are no fucking genius' (is that geni?) at ANY tv station who decided to show it I've watched the women's world cup. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite.

Not sure if I'm gonna be watching the final. It's on at midnight and I've work tomorrow (woo...)

h8kurdt 07.05.2015 12:39 PM

Speaking of the Copa, what happened with Messi in the last game? Did he choke or was he smothered?

oh, PREMIER LIVE was transmitting it for sure-- i saw some of their streams. not sure how you'd get that.

well, here's the funny part-- i watched the first half yesterday on the internet, then for the 2nd half i went to someone's house to watch it on tv. massive thunderstorm, power knocked out, no signal. went back home, power knocked out at home too, zero connection to anywhere. brilliant.

ended up listening on beinsport satellite radio-- but it wasn't a very good radio transmission, more like audio from their tv broadcast. so i couldn't really understand much, except that it seemed like a lot of back and forth.

from what i saw, chile fouled the shit out of everyone in the first half, medel kicked messi in the stomach. fucked up chile has bought all the refs in their road to victory.

di maria went out injured early (remember the world cup?). lavezzi came in for him and he's alright but he's no di maria.

2nd half (the minutes i could actually see) chile had a more organized attack.

overtime (radio, this one) everyone was spent, mascherano cramping up, everyone fucked up. higuaín missed out.

oh, i just found this game review-- i should go read it too now

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.05.2015 03:44 PM

Meh.. im happy for Chile.. Messi gonna make that same "smelled a fart" face he made at the WC for a week..

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.05.2015 04:50 PM

lol they're better than the men-- it will be 1/2 century at least before the usmnt wins a world cup

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.05.2015 06:49 PM

You got it totally backwards. Women's international futbol as a whole is so weak that USA can dominate. That doesn't make them inherently more talented than the Men's team, just points out the relative weakness of their competitors and of their sport as a whole. Internationally women's professional sports simply aren't developed enough, apples to small juice oranges

Indeed i saw the score on my twitter feed and was initially almost disappointed that i didn't see it and then i remembered i could care less! I don't watch tennis, golf, or racing either so i could care less if i missed an all time performance in them either

lololololol. you should stop making excuses and just declare that you disapprove of their running around in shorts in view of the public.

!@#$%! 07.05.2015 07:53 PM

fun fun game

i hope demonyo watched (lol puns)

oh there's hope's huge smile

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.05.2015 08:22 PM

I ain't hating on them do their thing. Im just refuting your claim the Women's Team is better than the Men's. Sure, they just won the "World Cup" but its not THE World Cup.

USA don't dominate. The best Women's teams are those with the best national infrastructure so it makes sense that the US women's team does well, but Germany are generally recognised as the dominant side, they just didn't happen to win this particular tournament.

There's nothing remotely weak about women's football. People just need to stop comparing it with the men's game and take it on its own terms. It has a different skill-set, as you say. Although saying that, the fact men can't play women probably spares the blushes of a lot of men. And in more specialist positions, like goalkeeper, I think players like Hope Solo are at least as good as plenty of male goalkeepers I've seen at the national level.

YES. and in their own terms, USA women are the world champions and USA men are fucking runts... lololol...

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.06.2015 01:14 PM

On their own terms sure, but i disagree with being better in "general" because the degree of competition is not the same. Men's futbol, especially at international level, simply fields more professionalized, more experienced rosters than Women's.. whether this is a morally or ethically good thing is not what im discussing.

Again, its not about women being inherently less talented, its about their sport as a whole being less developed, less professionalized. I am not intending to minimize or degrade women's team or women's futbol, but equality is about accepting what it is, and because of player development and professionalization Mens sport tend to be "better" than womens both in athleticism and overall talent pool. This is because more men play at a professional level, the competition is higher level, supply and demand shit..
Basically its what all you guys say about MLS vs global futbol.Women's is MLS in this argument

Two world cups in a row where we see three goals in 15 minutes.. insane!

Sadly for most Americans I'm sure Tim Howard's 18 saves will be more memorable.. can't hate on USWMNT getting their revenge, they were CRUSHED years ago in that loss to Japan, revenge is sweet. Ask the Spurs ;)

The irony is that you can't see that Women's futbol is essentially the same thing, talented but inferior product at a basic sport level! I bet the USWMNT couldn't beat LA Galaxy yo..

Turn off your blinders, you KNOW in your gut its right because YOU KNOW futbol better than any of us here..

Lets get this LA Galaxy vs USWNT going, put some balls and ovaries on the table

Why not the $20 yo, especially since ITS up for grabs apparently.. maybe they reserved that one for Lando?

demonrail666 07.06.2015 02:20 PM

Suchfriends isn't wrong. As someone with only a passing interest in football/soccer, his reasons for not bothering with the women's game are as valid as mine for not bothering with college American football. I think the women's game is a lot better quality wise than he maybe thinks, although I could also say the same about Symbol's assessment of the MLS. Seattle Sounders = 'dog pooh', really?!? Maybe compared with the the very very top ranks of the very best European leagues but if we're basing everything on those then we may as well not watch anything but the final stages of the CL.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.06.2015 02:28 PM

LA Galaxy vs Sounders in the West Finals last year was a great game! WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the MLS Final against New England

Don't give me your Messi, Ronaldo et al...
They're past their prime...
The new stars hail from... (not from that US of what) Vanuatu...
46-0...

http://www.theguardian.com/football/...-pacific-games

"A score of 30-0 was the minimum requirement for Vanuatu if they wanted to keep their hopes of qualifying from Pool A alive, with the group likely to be decided on goal difference."

OK... this last line might suggest that, somewhere, something ain't as cristal clear as I thought...

semi-watching jamaica score their first goal with the help of a costa rican defender in the middle of an empty stadium

training vs. argentina served them well

--

and now costa rica ties and tries to get ahead

--

wow that 2nd costa rican goal was NICE! finally starts to get entertaining.
