nope, no umemployment, since i am still at uni. the only thing i *could* get is a monthly student loan, but apparently I am not poor enough HA HA HA

to be honest, i can't really see myself doing anything different right now. can't really work during the week and i hate sitting in an office n stuff. working weekend nights was PERFECT.
the bar closed at a really bad time, since all the bar hired their bar stuff for the summer 1,5-2 months ago. my plan for NOW is to enjoy my 1,5 last weeks of this semester without stressing too much and then visit my mum. after that I will panic about a job again. still hoping i can start at my friend's club.... we will have to see, i don't know.

also, books! this thread is about BOOKS!

Maybe I'll find pdfs of good stuff online... that way I could read just as much AND finally use my kindle-- anyone knows a good source?

also, on kindle store, search for price = 0.

Rob Instigator 07.02.2014 04:04 PM

fold older books you can always do a search for the title and .pdf

You can usually come up with something

!@#$%! 07.02.2014 04:23 PM

you don't need a kindle, as kindle readers are free and installable in a variety of OSes.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.02.2014 05:16 PM

I live on PDF books, especially those rarer books that you really can't even buy aside from getting gouged. Ironically the internet made rare books MORE expensive because initially those might have sat dusty on a shelf for years and the seller just wants to get some money back. Now? The internet makes specialty, out-of-print, and niche topic books so damned expensive because its become a seller's market with all the access to customers.

You used to find these things in used book stores for cheap prices, now they have all become big shit because of internet "search" features which blatantly take all the fun and art out of "book shopping" much like it destroyed the art of shopping for records ;)

I think PDF has been a liberator to this boogie tyranny, in a way that Google books pretended it would be until Google Books just became another damned overpriced retailer..

Francis Scott Fitzgerald : fourth reading since 1998 of Tender Is the Night

I read Gastby for the first time last year I guess, and prefer Tender (the way I prefer John Dos Passos' USA trilogy over Manhattan Transfer)
