I never had fun at the Joanna party.

davenotdead 04.13.2010 10:55 AM

i haven't left the joanna party

I don't know, my sister raved about Ys. I checked it out. Did nothing for me. Then pfork humped Ys Street Band EP. Checked it out. Meh. I guess she's just not for me.

Let's face it, it's a pretty shit party. Boring as hell. No drinks, no decent looking people and they're playing shit music (let's say Tori Amos with a harp).

And there's a way better party going on down the street anyway.

noisereductions 04.13.2010 10:59 AM

...at Bill Callahan's house. Plenty of drinks. And chairs.

I actually got into her because a friend lent me HOOM. It's class, but decided to put it aside until I have my own copy. Went to buy said copy, saw they had the Ys vinyl in, thought I should start with the 'classic', blah blah. May go back for HOOM this week.

Coincidentally, Bill Callahan is actually the main other party that I've come late to and have been spending an unreasonable amount of time at of late (well, that and Godflesh), and I gotta say, it's a pretty fucking great time. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm all floored by the charms Joanna's subtle tasteful little get together, but I'm not quite sure it measures up to the stomping 4AM life changer that's Bill's busy throwing...

OK, well that metaphor is officially milked beyond all logical limits. The point is, they're both awesome.

I'm a longtime Smog obsessive. Since JULIUS CAESAR. Love it all. He rules.

I've only really just gotten heavily into him. The only albums I own are Knock Knock (masterpiece) and this (which I am currently listening to):

It's amazing. Bowery is absurdly fantastic. As is Bathysphere.
