lol, I also always write vinyl wrong :D
anyway, love that album! I got the full boxset of Gainsbourg not too long ago, but this one stands tall above it all.

YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU FUCKING FUCK. I mean, um, I'm gonna quote Christgau on this one, not because I worship the guy as some here seem to think, but because I agree with his answer:

Quote:

[Q] Why do you still bother buying CDs? Why not just save yourself money and shelf space by streaming everything? -- Jake L, Montreal

[A] As I've said before here, I believe that streaming dematerializes music as well as depriving it of economic reality. It makes music harder to perceive as work and also as something with an existence outside of the listener's head. I suspect that's one reason why I find it difficult to write more than a few dozen words about a streamed album. For me streaming is preliminary processing; psychologically, to listen deep I need an object I can see and handle. Plus packaging does often add dimension to the experience and comparison listening, in which I use a changer to sneak up on my ears with a related album, is much easier to manage with physical product.

I bought the new Kanye before I heard it (mistake)

And I ordered the new Swans.

got the new Kim Gordon when that dropped.

Before that I got an album by Botany and Lushlife (aka The Skull Eclipses), which is pretty good.

I’m not ready to joke about it.

I’m returning the album when it arrives in 8-13 (???) weeks.

I’m Fucking done.

Ironically, you saw the light with this one.

Savage Clone 10.28.2019 08:04 PM

New Blut Aus Nord 2xLP, "Hallucinogen." Easily one of the best records of the year, bringing space/psychedelia and black metal together in a very intelligent fashion that shows their continued disdain for standard tropes in black metal or anything else. They really continue to further themselves all the time, and this record has both brains and teeth. Sick package too.

I bought The Geraniums new tape. Everything I've heard from this band is fantastic. Check them out if you like Harry Pussy and Borbetomagus.

Unfortunately, this tape was already sold out.

Bytor Peltor 11.05.2019 04:28 PM

Over all my years of purchasing music, I’ve received some intriguing packaging. This new cassette on Tribe Tapes is a new spin for a low-fi harsh tape. Corrosive rot without being intrusive, housed in a gallon size zip-loc bag full of grass clippings and mint leaves.

Excepter - The Debussy EP

There arent a lot of bands that can get me to pay for download only albums, but I have purchased every single one of them from Excepter. (excluding the live series thing. I'm not a sadist).

ilduclo 12.03.2019 10:14 AM

I got the Shades of Gray off EBay for reasonable markup, free shipping.

choc e-Claire 12.06.2019 05:12 AM

American Football - LP3 CD

On the last day(s) of the old year I overspent my budget. This is what happens when I check the outlet bin ...

- on vinyl:
* the Byrds - 1978 Boarding House Live
* Stephen Stills - 1978 Bread and Roses Festival
* Neil Young - Dead Man OST (2xLP)
* Frank Zappa - the Guitar World According To...
* Sunn 0))) - Life Metal (2xLP)
* Beth Gibbons - Górecki Symphony No 3

- on CD:
* Wedding Present - Marc Riley Sessions vol 3
* JS Bach - Complete Organ Music (15CD)
* Cello Concertos (15CD), various composers
* The Complete Liszt Recordings by Sergio Fiorentino (6CD), piano
* Sibelius Symphonies 1-7 & Tone Poems (5CD)
* Vivaldi Complete Concertos And Sinfonias For Strings And Basso Continuo (4CD)
* Silver-Garburg Piano Duo - Igor Stravinsky - Petrouschka & Sacré Du Printemps. The album sleeve is truly hideous, but check them on Youtube

My new year's resolution is to listen to more classical music. So here's my homework for the upcoming months ...

furthermore a bunch of movies on Blurays and DVD's, and a book by Peter Hook about Joy Division
