Making serious progress on the restoration of a vintage fiberglass egg chair I got a couple of weeks ago in poor condition (and thus affordable for a change). Exterior work is complete, and took far less work than I thought it would. I had to sand the inside to get all the old nasty cushion foam out, but I thought I would have to sand down the outside too, which I didn't. Thanks, Scotchbrite! Your abrasive pads saved me several hours of wearing the respirator and gloves in the hot sun!

I have wanted one since I was eight years old. They are usually over $2000.00, so needless to say I have never gotten one. This one I found at an auction via my workplace, and seeing as I have access to the shop facilities, the rehab operation is totally doable. The other job I have gives me connections for free interior foam, and a skilled seamstress friend will help sew new coverings!

For now, gutted and cleaned. Interior work begins soon!

Yeah, I love both the egg and the globe (spherical version), but this one came up and I had to get it. My boss let me use the company van for the three-hour drive and let me take a day off to get it. I have really good bosses.
