Yeah. I'm quite new to this band so my opinions might change as the time goes on. So, what album I should get next. Either Wowee Zowee or Slanted and Enchanted I presume? (well actually I'm buying Terror Twilight next 'cause I don't own it yet. Just borrowed it from local library several times).

S&E is classic and essential, I think. I'm not terribly familiar with Wowee but I think the consensus is that it's good but not as strong as the debut album (S&E).
|
What about Brighten The Corners? I haven't ever heard people talking about it.
anyway, check out The Mutants, which I recommend. |
I like BRIGHTEN as much as I like WOWEE. But S+E is in my Top 10 Albums of all time.

Real nice score, there, EveryN.
here's gmku's score: Radiohead - Kid A & OK Computer, both on vinyl, new Beach Boys - Pet Sounds, vinyl, new (and mono!) & from yesterday: The Smiths - Debut LP and The Queen is Dead LP, both used Best thing, didn't spend a penny! How? I traded 25 CDs from my duplicate and no-listen piles. The duplicates were placeholders for when I found the LP equivalent, so this feels like both a nice load letting and refreshing of the LP stacks. I received more than 100 bucks in store credit! The Radiohead LPs were 26 bucks each, and Pet Sounds wasn't cheap either. I still have 13 bucks of credit. This score and a sixer of good beer will help me through a few more days in South Carolina. |
$26 bucks for vinyl is nuts. I'd love (if I had the space) to only buy vinyl, but prices like that bum me out. $10 should be it for a single LP. $15 for a double? $20 for a double tops.
Also, I think all LP's should come with a CD inside. Like Shellac did for 10,000 Hurts. |
They're so nice, though. Beautiful. 180 gram vinyl. Heavy cardboard jackets.
Best, though, audiophile quality sound. I can't describe the difference from the CDs (one of the CDs I turned in was the CD version of OK Computer). But I "feel" it.esi Besides, you're supposed to be sharing in my joy, not dragging me down. This is score, I tell you. |
OK Computer is a double LP, by the way. And Kid A is a double 10" LP.
The price seems perfectly in line for what the LPs are. Pet Sounds was 18, but again, it's real nice stuff. 180 gram is the cocaine of the record collector's world, doncha know. |
No I know. I feel you. And like I said, wish I had the room to have my collection wholey vinyl. And agree thatn 180 grahams sounds incredible.
Just saying that $10 would be perfect price in my eyes for single LP. Also, I dont like 10"s and I don't like 12" singles. I think LP should be 12" and singles should be 7". Just how I likes it is all. |
I too would like to see those vinyl prices come down.
And frankly, I'm not convinced that 180 gram is all that necessary. I think you can make a quality recording without the extra weight. But for better or worse, it's a trend that seems to have turned into common practice now in the LP pressing business. But I'd really like to see the industry going back to a middle weight that doesn't cost the consumer so much. It's one reason I haven't bought an LP in months and months. I got tired of shelling out 18-20 bucks for things that really shouldn't cost me more than 10 or 12. |
Exactly how I feel.
|
You know what's weird? I think I like Amnesiac better than Kid A, for some reason. (I have Amnesiac also in the double-10-inch format, by the way.)
|
I dont think that's weird at all. Over time AMNESIAC became my favorite Radiohead album.

fucking awesome gmlku
that is the way to do it. it had been a while since you got naything new man I love the thick vinyl. it feels like it will not warp or break or melt too easy |
Yeah, I love it, too. I love the heft of it. Just wish they could bring the cost down. But damn! when I trade in a bunch of worthless silver discs and get this stuff--fucking heaven!
