Haha. Did you suddenly turn in on and notice all the sound died while you were playing? Cause that would have been really funny

Yes, Doug, that's exactly what happened...luckily they have footswitches so I very quickly, easily and effeciently rectified the issue at hand.

I wore my Dino Jr shirt I bought 15 years ago when I saw them with MBV tonight...just though you'd like to know.

king_buzzo 04.15.2007 03:44 AM

Your SC has 2 switches? Why so?

Ha, you cant have seen MBV tonight but whatever.

There's one switch: on/off

I didn't see them tonight. I saw them 15 years ago.

Not according to you.

Oh yeah, I misread your post i thought you said 'It has 2 footswitches'

CHOUT 04.15.2007 04:29 AM

It's ok...you are fun to confuse.

king_buzzo 04.15.2007 04:38 AM

Okay then.

king_buzzo 04.16.2007 03:21 PM

Bump

king_buzzo 04.26.2007 01:58 PM

Bump bitch.

I finally decided what i'm doing.

Getting a rat. : Standard of Turbo??? I will try them both out though but I need opinions.

Is the turbo rat similar to a big muff? I've heard so? Is it juicy and crunchy? Versatile? Can be used for solo freakouts? Noisy? MBV/Shoegazy??? Can cover distortion and overdrive?

Or is the standard rat better for this?

In relation to Rats, the Turbo Rat have been said to have 'more gain less sustain'. Owning a Turbo Rat and Big Muff(s) I don't think they're that similar...Muffs are more chunky. Yes it can cover overdrive...they're thinner sounding than a Muff, IMO.

king_buzzo 04.26.2007 02:08 PM

good. turbo it is. I threw the ds1 because its crap. So solos with the muff sound shit if they are not boosted by something.

No, to me it's the other way around...Muffs are thicker sounding with more sustain, which works great with solos...the Turbo Rat sounds thin when doing solos...I usually would boost or compress the Turbo Rat for solos.

king_buzzo 04.26.2007 02:52 PM

I really dont like my muff when soloing because its so compressed and acurate, its better with chords. Wait if i'm running my muff last and put the tr infront of it, thats boosting the tr right and not muff??

And it can do thurstons crunch right??

lowlife 04.27.2007 03:02 AM

I prefer the ds-1 over the rat for guitar. For other purposes (tapes, floops) the rat is better choice.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.27.2007 10:12 AM

I like the DS-1 to do the self oscillate bend then coupling it with a noisy fuzz and a chorus to make police siren sounds.

CHOUT 04.27.2007 10:29 PM

I got another fucking sweet guitar today...more details later~

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.28.2007 12:14 AM

So I was at a show today and this one guitarist had a sweet fuzz sound. So I was like "what is that?" and I walked up there and saw he had an Little Big Muff. Silly me, not recognizing pedals I own! Of course it was through a different amp and guitar though.

CHOUT 04.28.2007 01:47 AM

Here's my new guitar...exactly what I wanted and I never saw them used before I got my other tele and this store had two of them for decent prices!
'72 Tele Thinline RI, Daphne Blue mint fucking condition with case!

king_buzzo 04.28.2007 03:17 AM

Sexy man.Like the colour....

king_buzzo 04.28.2007 07:06 AM

Just scored the standard RAT. It was 70, the guy gave me a discount. They didn't have turbo rats in stock, so i got this one, i like it, I'll keep it with me for a couple of days and then I'll see if im gonna keep it.

Its pretty nice and scooped. I will leave it for a day or so, but I think I'll keep it. It fuzzes up my Muffed solos pretty well.

Trasher02 05.01.2007 10:53 AM

Never tried one, but people seem to hate on the newest version quite frequently...how's it sound to you?

CHOUT 05.03.2007 01:12 AM

Just finished my first BYOC pedal, took me about 7 hours total...and worked right the first time!
It's a compressor with the old Ross circuit...sounds really good

king_buzzo 05.03.2007 02:22 AM

Cool man, post some pictures

CHOUT 05.04.2007 01:33 PM

It looks like this, but the LED is below the knobs...I think I'm just gonna leave it like this so nobody knows what the fuck it is.

This is an old boss phaser so I'm hoping that the sound will be decent. I'm getting im tomorrow and I'll try him out immediately.

I have the newest version and it's pretty versatile. You can recreate the Phase 90 very easily. It takes a while to learn how to use all the knobs properly.

CHOUT 05.04.2007 08:54 PM

I just ordered the Mighty Mouse kit from BYOC, a Rat clone with 3 settings:

"Throughout the entire history of vintage
guitar FX pedals and their reissues, the
Rat reissue is probably the only one to do
the original justice. So why would you
want to build a clone if the reissue sounds
good? Well....aside from the fact that the
reissue is relatively expensive for a mass
produced pedal, it comes in a big funky
enclosure, and the obvious joy and
bragging rights you get from building your
own pedal, the Rat is the most amazing
circuit to modify. And the BYOC Mighty
Mouse Kit just happens to come with a few
of the coolest mods for the Rat circuit.

The 3-way toggle switch gives you
"vintage", "big boost", and "overdrive"
modes. "Vintage" of course gives you
original specs. "Big boost" lifts the clipping
diodes for a boost with an insane about of
volume. The "overdrive" mode isn't part of
the typical 3-way switch mod that some
pedal modifying companies will do to the
Rat. The "overdrive" mode involves a little
more circuit bending than just changing
the clipping diodes from 1N914's to LED's.
The "overdrive" mode gives the circuit a
completely different flavor from the regular
Rat with LEDs in the clipping section. The
kit also comes with the parts to build to
"turbo" specs instead of "vintage" and a
few other parts to tweak to taste."

The Made In Japan models are believed to be better quality than the current Made In Taiwan models.

Danny Himself 05.06.2007 05:27 PM

BOSS is a japanese company, anyway?

king_buzzo 05.07.2007 12:30 AM

Don't know... It's just a sub company of Roland which is....something...

Ofcourse.

Are Rats made in china??? On the box of mine it says made in china.

scott v 05.07.2007 09:36 AM

WOW Look at this! and look at the price and its crazy!?!?!?!
some of the best pics i've seen of this unit, the infamous effect used on the Washing Machine album...

http://cgi.ebay.com/LUDWIG-PHASE-II-...QQcmdZViewItem

And to change the subject... I scooped up on what I think is a good find the other day for a nice price at a local music store as they didn't exactly know what they had, its a custom made fuzz unit made in 2004 by Subdecay Studios (at the time they were in Washington but now are in Oregon) i'm pretty sure its called "Birthday Fuzz" and only 25 of them were made. Its a precursor/prototype to their newer more elaborate fuzz called the Flying Tomato. They appear to make some interesting units like the Quasar phase shifting pedal which has alot of features more so than most phaseshifting pedals made today and looks to be more elaborate than the Mu-tron Phaser II

the birthday fuzz is pretty basic with no markings, and only volume and fuzz knobs but comes close to sounding like a bigmuff or even better and its also true-bypass:
