My money is on multiple shots with a stationary camera and then layered together with layer masks to reveal himself in the various locations

my digi slr doesnt do multiple exposures only bracketing which i guess i could use the bracketing to do that with out exposure compensation for hdr. i use gimp an open source version of photoshop, it is just five photos from same position...

Cool. I had a similar idea. I hate that DSLR don't offer double exposures.
