I also recently bought Long Live A$AP, which I'm warming to, and the new Flume. I also found these gems when I was at the record store last week picking up our copies of Push the Sky Away:

Vaselines- Enter the Vaselines
Hush Arbors- Yankee Reality
Stardeath and White Dwarfs- The Birth
There Will Be Blood- OST (Jonny Greenwood)
Assassination of Jesse James by .... Ford- OST (Cave and Ellis)

Kinda went a little nuts on physical music, which I rarely do anymore. But most of these were under $5, so fuck it. I'm not disappointed with anything, though the Birth does get a little exhausting before the first full listen is over. Still promising though

Takako Minekawa's Fun9 and Cloudy Cloud Calucator arrived in the mail today ^_^.

All that is left is for my Okkyung Lee(I saw the ghost...) and Hallelujah's record to come in.

Found a score in the used section the other day. The Public Strain was a re-purchase because my old copy is beaten to shit. Also the Chelsea Light Moving cd I bought as a gift. I don't really need a third copy. Anyway, the Sebadoh import was the gem.

I honestly could not tell you, I think it's a studio recording though. I never even knew it existed, I just walked into a store and it was there. beautiful colour, deep red with intermittent black.

very intense, not nearly as ritualistic or percussive as a lot of z'ev material, in fact it reminds me a lot of japanoise in that it is quite psychedelic and somewhat transcendental when digested as a whole. it's pretty difficult to discern who is doing what though, given the fact that it is at points just a wall of comparatively soft noise. I know that doesn't really make sense, but it's not ear-splitting in any way.

so it's a good release, but it could be perceived as being slightly perfunctory and inessential as a consequence. if you are a fan of both acts though then by all means get your hands on it.

I just went to the Salvation Army and scored a massive haul of CDs, LPs, and books due to their Cinco De Mayo sale.

Though I walked away with some great TOR fantasy, some Gestalt Psychology books, and a copy of the DSM-IV, I was most excited about finding LOW- Things we Lost in the Fire for $.69. I got home and opened it up, and instead of The Low disc, 50 Cent's "the Massacre" stared back at me.

I was a little peeved. But what are you gonna do, right? I put on 50 cent and kicked back with some self diagnosis based on outdated texts.

Mortte Jousimo 05.06.2013 03:14 AM

P J Harvey: Dry (finally got this!, original too pure)
Jimi Hendrix: Hendrix in the west (original uk gatefold cover)
Hurriganes: Rock & Roll All Night Long (first pressing)
the Cramps: Bad Music for Bad people
Tom Waits: Live from Austin
Tom Waits: Black Rider

All in vinyl.

funny how they even mentioned how they gave up on Turd Man Records because the same shit's happened to him as well. btw. catl are on tour. not like you are going to go to it, because it's so not Sonic Youth at all

Severian 05.08.2013 06:03 PM

Catl? I feel like I should know what you're talking about.

i found the tam cd on ecstatic peace at goodwill like a year ago and they didn't have the disc, now i found a hooker/ranaldo/parkins cd there and they didn't have the disc! never happens with non sy cds... can't wait to ditch these rap tapes on my friend, the gza is a sick score that will make a muchly lucrative profit

Dude, the Goodie Mob is a score as well. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sucks about the Gift of Tongues (I assume that's what it was...) I've actually had that happen with a shrink wrapped Sonic Youth album before. It was Dirty; I was pissed. Coincidentally, I did not hear the album as a whole until finding a cassette of it at Goodwill later that year.

it was gift of tongues yeah,i downloaded it and it's great, i got the packaging so i'm gonna just put a cdr in there and pretend. crazy that happened to you with shrink wrap on the cd. i love that goodie mob album(more than their first actually) but i wasn't that excited about it since i don't listen to my tapes much and i was getting them for weed money, and the gza one is the only one that's worth anything. although my friend was actually most excited about goodie mob because he thought it wasn't available on tape. also threw in some ice-t, big daddy kane, saukrates, mantronix, snoop dogg, some dancehall tapes, and concert bootlegs of john coltrane and lee perry.

Severian 05.18.2013 01:25 PM

In ascending order. The Byrne/Eno was an impulse but; I've had the album for years, but what else is a man to do when he sees a shrink wrapped copy of the reissue of this album in the used bin? NOT buy it?
