Blue Afternoon is in the mellow jazz/folk vein of Happy sad / Dream letter live in London / the Peel sessions, it's very good and is mostly beautiful acoustic ballads.

Starsailor is even better, but totally different musically. It's experimental music at its best (strongly inspired by avant-garde jazz and contemporary music). Definitely mindblowing.

Hey, Rob, nice purchases. Now sell that Smiths LP to me, please. Name your price.

Rob Instigator 08.04.2008 09:39 AM

dude! it is so sweet!
yesterday on a whim, while waiting for my g/f to shop I went to 1/2 price books and found these on vinyl!!!!

HEADACHE - BIG BLACK. It had all the original inserts, and not only that, the previous owner had cut out a newspaper clipping and taped it to the innner sleeve. it details the acquital of the doctor mentioned in the insert by the lady telling the story of how her husband threw their deformed baby on the floor a couple of times after the delivery cuz he was so disgusted. crazy fucking albini, butrthe newspaper artricle really freaked me out when read in conjunction with the inner sleeve!

Don Caballero - (I do not know trhe name. it is a double vinyl)

Sonic Youth 37 08.04.2008 11:09 AM

Rob Instigator 08.04.2008 11:12 AM

Muchas gracias muchacho!

Yeah I too am jealous of Rob popping into stores. I used to work around the corner from two great record stores. Popping in was a daily ritual.

Now where I live I have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest record store. There is no more daily or even weekly popping in. Every couple weeks or even once a month is about all I can stand to make that drive. I'm sure I'm missing a lot--the store gets in great used and new vinyl and it goes fast. But what the hell. Life is still good.

SO - did you bump in to viewtiful_alan......he keeps the Houston Half-Price scene in business

I've been enjoying Don Cab 2 (on cd) for many years now.

Haha exactly half the time they just have crap, the other 1/2 you'll find something kind of cool, and every now and then you will find something really unxexpected and awesome.

I'm gonna try and get to soundwaves or cactus this weekend.
