Nice Ploesj! I went to a comic // illustration convention not long ago for the first time and realize how it's really a whole different world, never thought it was such a big thing. It really had a lot to do with DIY culture and Anarchism. How did you do?

it was pretty nice, comics in belgium are quite underground and no one can live from it, so all the artists know each other and support each other. they're nice to new people since everyone can help to make comics more known to a larger audience. a lotof artists came from the art or illustration world and were influenced by french comic book artists...

some people i met (or met before) and liked:

brecht evens

randall c.

olivier schrauwen

serge baeken

and my boyfriend of course...

davenotdead 12.17.2009 04:29 AM

i like yr boyfriend's stuff.

Are you a fan of Georges Remi, creator of "The Adventures of Tintin"?

Rob Instigator 12.17.2009 11:53 AM

you did not say whether you were a fan though...

personally I find the Tin Tin comix, which are huge in latin america, to be dreadfully dull.

i like his style, the stories are a bit boring sometimes but there are these typically belgian things in it that make it funny to me...

Tintin doesn't mean anything in french, as far as I know.

i don't know, there's something about belgian humor that never reaches other countries, even if they speak the same language. belgian comedy never gets popular in the netherlands.

Rob Instigator 12.17.2009 12:57 PM

I have never heard the phrase "Belgian comedy" before
