this is probably the worst circle album i've ever heard. |
On order / pre-order from various places:
Peter Wright - Burning A Hole In The Sun 3" CDR Hakobune - Melting Reminiscence 3" CDR Gareth Hardwick & Taiga Remains - Split 10" Lee Ranaldo - Countless Centuries Fled Into The Distance Lke So Many Storms 12" Oren Ambarchi - A Final Kiss On Poisoned Cheeks 12" |
Yeah I haven't been especially impressed either, but was hoping it would grow on me. Maybe a bad choice for my first foray into their vast discography, but I was suckered by a pretty sound sample and references to Satie.

Same here, I did receive a shipping confirmation e-mail, so they should be on their way. I'm anxious to hear them. Ambarchi's, In The Pendulum's Embrace is great. I highly recommend it. |
Oren Ambarchi.... stellar
i also love Rafael Toral and Fennesz |

I'll do some searching for these recommendations. Thanks! EDIT: I'm going through Toral's discography on his site, & noticed that he collaborated w/ Lee on Amarillo Ramp. I did not know that. BTW, just received my, A Final Kiss On Poisoned Cheeks 12" in the mail. I'll be listening to it here in a few. |

& Stevie Wonder said as well. I'll most certainly pick those up. Can never say no to the timeless classics. Thanks! |
come back and tell us what you thought about these two, but honestly you can't go wrong here especially knwing that you listen to Ambarchi.
Just check these two beauties of artwork. They tell it all: Toral and lee are very releated and good friends. he processed, miwed and mastered the long track on amarillo ramp and i know they did a couple more things togetehr live or what not, ask the walking encyclopedia team. |
vinyl, double 180g clear vinyl. I also bought a buttload of 7 inch singles and this CD boot of the Youth the listing on the discography says Bootleg CD recorded live April 7th, 1996 @ Phillipshalle in Dusseldorf, Germany. Probably the most infamous Sonic Youth bootleg show, also appearing on "Easter" and "Hallucinogenic Preserve". |

Well I've only had it long enough to listen to the first disc once through, but so far it's pretty fucking incredible. It's all of the 7 inches he ever released (until the set came out obviously), including splits, plus a whole load of stuff that was planned for 7 inch release never came out. Spans pretty much all of his styles, from fucked up blues deconstructions to achingly beautiful guitar cries. Lovely, although due to the original format they’re mostly shorter pieces. The five tracks from the Table of the Elements "Five Points" release are especially amazing. |
mmmm sounds really cool

Mamoru Narita
The Raven On The Water Bridge Subjective Spirit Sound SSS-113 CD-R Debut solo release for Narita, drummer with recent Tokyo Flashback stars Retolt Mandala. The Raven... is a set of clattering solo percussive lift-offs that combine tonal clusters of bells and skin with threads of slowly-evolving string drones that work to raise the whole deal to the kinda tranced out-of-body heights that sound much more exactingly keyed to the experience of shamanic states than the endless parade of indie bellshakers with world music pyjamas and saxophones engaged in "mystic" improvisations. This one arrives in the zone right from the get-go and moves deeper with every track. If you dig Boredoms and Amon Duul as much as Frank Perry and Milford Graves then yr a fucking champ. Limited edition release on this great Japanese underground imprint. |
