The port of Broken Sword is fucking unbelievable. If you don't have that, yr nuts. I know you love Lucas adventure games. This is just like that, and it's such an impressive port from PC to GBA. Highly recommended. Big time.

on a similar note, if you still had a GBA or ability to play GBC games, I'd recommend Scooby-Doo Classic Creep Capers, which is pretty much a straight up homage to Maniac Mansion. It's pretty amazing.

I will have a search for Demikids, I forget that we already talked about it. thats right up my alley at the moment.
I love the Broken sword, but I got the first two games as PC titles and played them recently over scummVM.

will keep that scooby doo games in mind when I next visit the fleamarket.
DemiKids, YEAH! :)

If you liked XIII, you're going to love Killer7... that is, unless you have already played it, and currently love it.

visually yes.
but I can imagine some FPS nerds playing XIII and thinking:"Yeah, what fucked up Graphics, pretty cool" and while playing killer7 they are thinkin:"whats that? its on rails?!! the gameplay is totally fucked up, I do NOT understand the story, this game is shit" and totally forget about the visual style. and maybe thats the reason why k7 wasnt commercial success :)

I'm playing Megaman 8.

atsonicpark 10.18.2010 08:20 AM

Hmm, yeah, XIII and Killer7 are really nothing alike. But obviously I reccomend Killer7, since it's the best game of that generation, next to Ico.

Mega Man 8 is underrated... great game except the last few Wily's Castle levels, which are just ridiculous, in a bad way.

al, I thought of another game I want you to get for GBA: Rebelstar Tactical Command. Have you played it? it's amazing. It's basically X-Com Advance. Made by the same guy. I know you dig Turn Based Strat. This one is great.

shabbray2.0 10.18.2010 05:09 PM

what???
I love xcom!!!!!
I am instantly out on a hunt.

EDIT: found it, for 13 euro NEW.
Dammit I want the box for this!!!

btw a hidden gem for the DS is magical starsign. I laughed my ass off. reminded me a lot of playng old school lucas arts games!!!

noisereductions 10.18.2010 09:19 PM

never heard of magical starsign. Will look into. Thanks.

I think yr gonna fucking LOVE Rebelstar. BTW there's a nice strategy guide out there too that includes strategy for Sigma Star Saga. Have you played that one? It's an RPG Shmup!

Sounds a lot like Armada for the Dreamcast. I wouldn't have imagined there'd be more than one game like that. Neat concept.

thats the one where they fused exaclty thos two genres, isnt it?
Ive read a review some time ago. good one?

about magical starsign:
It came in the first half of the DS lifespan. its from brownie brown, they were involved in mother 3 and a lot of squares stuff if I remmeber right.
I am sure you ve seen it before, but it looks so damn middle of the road from its packaging design that it doesnt stick in your mind :)
also the setting is like the über-cliche of rpgs, BUT it will start from the beginning with inside and outside jokes like mad. almost all characters (good and evil) are so charming it breaks your heart when the game is over :)
I played it short after playing contact for the first time. and even if I like contact a whole lot for different reasons, magikal starsign turned out be the game I was kinda looking for: it got the quirkyness, the loveable charaters, also the cute graphics, just the setting is inside the magickal world, which is in this case a good thing. they even start in a magician school. in the first minutes I thought I bought the lamest game ever, but short afterwards the lucasarts-factor crushed my brain :)
definate recommendation, even the battlegame is fun, despite its simpleness
hell I am goign to play this till rebelstar arrives. One of the good sites of being bed-sick. you can play such games from the moment you open your till the moment you fall asleep :)

MAKEN X. Pretty fun, and nutty.

Kind of like Diablo..

also, just bought D2...

...since it's impossible to find a copy of this to burn and play...

Can't wait to play it, Warp is one of my favorite companies ever. Just brilliant.

atsonicpark 10.19.2010 06:53 AM

Also, just got Ore No Ryouri, aka "My cooking":

Ore No Ryouri is one of those games that if you haven't played it and someone tries to explain it to you, your first thought would probably be: how can this kind of game be any fun, or I don't think this is something for me.

Well this is where a lot of people go wrong, Ore No Ryouri is in fact one of the best games on the PSone, period.

oh yeah. I feel like it draws a lot from Guardian Legend on the NES. Remember that one? It was like an Action-RPG Shmup.

Sigma Star is um ok. A lot of people love it. I just like it. But I've bought it 3 times. I always get rid of it and then miss it. So I guess I like it a bit then righ? I mean great idea.

My girlfriend got me DIABLO for our one year anniversary

and I've been playing metal slug 6 on the metal slug anthology

Let's face it, 7 awesome games that I got for $10 -- how much better does it get? The PS2 had so many awesome collections.. Taito Legends 2 (1 was alright, but 2 had so many awesome shooters like Raystorm, G Darius, Darius Gaiden, etc), Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2 (we're talking, like, 50 great games between the two of them! From Chiki Chiki Boys to Forgotten Worlds! Only thing missing was Final Fighter 2 and 3, and Demon's Crest), Mega Man Collection and the Mega Man X Collection... collecting tons and tons of awesome games, and all of them only cost me $10-20, even brand new. I think the most expensive one was Mega Man X Collection which I bought the day it came out for $30. It goes for $85 now last I looked. I also have this Devil May Cry box set for $20, which was all 3 games in one big box that Capcom released. THose games are so easy though and weren't too good, aside from the first one. I had them all beat in a week. Sold it some kid for $60! It's weird, though, the first one has the worst control, graphics, and those crappy camera angles like the Resident Evil games have -- but it has a great atmosphere and is really, really fun. The 2nd one is so easy I beat sections of it with my eyes closed, I never even took damage. And for some reason, the 3rd one always gets flack for being hard, but I never understood that. Since you level up in it, all you had to do was replay the first level 4 or 5 times and level up your skills and life bar, and the rest of the game is a joke!

As for Diablo, I'd never played it too much.. it's pretty awesome.. you just kill things, get gold, buy things, then kill more things, right? Is that it? It was fun! I am not sure what to get my girlfriend for our anniversary (this was an early present from her to me). I'm thinking of getting her Mario Galaxy 2 since she liked the first one so much.
