From Demand Progress. DONATE to keep alive the campaign described below.

Quote:

Tomorrow (May 15), FCC Commissioner and former Verizon lawyer Ajit Pai will formally introduce his plan to kill net neutrality.

That's right. Despite more than 1 million comments and grassroots actions against killing net neutrality —such an enormous outcry that it crashed the FCC's website— he's doing it anyway.

We're launching an emergency campaign to call on members of the House, Senate, and FCC to reject the attack on net neutrality.

Congress could force Pai to back down if we make it undeniable that his plan to kill net neutrality is completely toxic.

The Senate hasn't even voted yet on whether to confirm Pai to his full term as FCC Chair — a sign of just how rushed and radical this whole process is. Pai's plan to kill net neutrality needs to be the top issue in that vote.

The House of Representatives also holds the purse strings for the FCC, and of course the White House could shut Pai's whole plan down if they felt enough pressure.

We need to make sure EVERYONE in Washington, D.C. knows how unpopular Pai's plan really is — and that they will be held accountable if they don't fight to save net neutrality.

To make that happen, we're pulling out all the stops:

— We're flooding Capitol Hill with phone calls against the Trump/Pai plan to kill net neutrality.

— We're helping organize a rally tomorrow at the FCC against this corporate power grab.

— We've organized a massive coalition to drive in 1 million grassroots actions opposing the Trump/Pai plan.

When John Oliver urged people to tell the FCC not to gut net neutrality, so many people took action that he crashed their website.

But Ajit Pai wants to move forward his plan to "take a weed whacker" to net neutrality anyway.

Thanks for standing with us,

Kurt Walters, Demand Progress

Maybe he was. There's not a single shred of evidence pointing to this. The family doesn't suspect the dnc. The cops don't. This private investigator Wheeler fellow changed his story yesterday afternoon, puncturing the whole conspiracy theory. But maybe.

the family is actually outraged that the teslas of this world are exploiting the death for their perfidious ends

Up to a certain point during the '90s, "LOL" was used by doctors and nurses in hospitals as an acronym for "little old lady". I know it because I watched E.R., so it must be true. :)

I thought I said it was in a documentary I found in BBC... 2? Definitely didn't feel legit. I can't remember the exact argument, but Kissinger was juxtaposed with Trump and then '80s punks were lambasted and then I left the room.

Pretty sure I mentioned this. I didn't mean that I felt that way. Was just bringing up a funky documentary I saw that seemed too shit for BBC by miles. Granted I saw it on someone's jail broken Firestick and Roku system (I don't really get that stuff).

Anyway, not sure about the whatever and whatnot.

Btw: "lol" was not standard vernacular in 1997. Seriously?
Or was it? What the hell, I actually don't know.

Goddamn you.

sure. people. are saying!

that's... well, irrefutable, right?

i don't see the connection there.

but anyway. LOL is very old, yeah. so it's now onomatopoeic because we actually laugh like that. bha ha ha ha

Hateful graffiti that was spray painted on an Indianapolis church in November has been revealed to be a “false flag” to spread fear, done by someone opposed to Donald Trump winning the presidency.

The vandalism, which included the words “Heil Trump” and a gay slur, was actually done by George Nathaniel Stang, 26, who is a gay man himself, and a member of the church.

On Wednesday, Stang was charged with a misdemeanor by Brown County Prosecutor Ted Adams.

Stang claims that he vandalized St. David's Episcopal Church in an attempt to upset people into “mobilizing a movement” after the election.

Good article (I think; I'm not a damn lawyer) on the relevance of this clusterfuckery's terminology:

Special counsel, special prosecutor: What's the difference?

Key bit:

Quote:

"Prosecutors are not journalists, and their job is not to inform the public of the results of their investigations," Zeidenberg wrote. "Rather, their mission is to gather all of the relevant facts and determine whether a crime was committed and, if so, whether it can be proved in court beyond a reasonable doubt. Their work, when done properly, is done in secret."

That means that if critical evidence was found in the case but it was in, say, Russia and therefore unobtainable, "then it would be improper to seek an indictment. Critically, the entire investigation would then remain secret. It would be a violation of law for a prosecutor to make public the results of a grand jury investigation that did not result in an indictment."

So we sure as shit still need the Post and the Times...

Along with FLK for funny looking kid. On a happier note, Jabba Ailes won't be enjoying a log retirement on the golf course

Yah neither do I. I was actually hoping someone might clue me in, since I abandoned the documentary when it started showing Patti Smith hanging out in her apartment as confirmation of death of the counter-culture, and I don't know the title.

Anyway, shouldn't have said "I've heard it argued..." I knew that was a clunky way to phrase it when I wrote it, and knew it was a non-existent point. But if anyone knows the documentary I'm thinking of, let me know!

It contained a snippet of Yanka Dyagileva's "My Sorrow is Luminous" (great fucking song that I wasn't aware of before seeing this doc), so if anyone happened to see it, I'm interested in seeing exactly what kind of propaganda it is.

And yes I know better than using "everyone's saying it" logic. That's Trump logic. That's non-logic. Anti-logic. I'm ashamed.

(Seriously though, that's a great song... everyone listen to it)

Once again, Re: Net Neutrality from Demand Progress; I wouldn't have to post it if these pieces of shit weren't so desperately trying to FUCK US. Please donate if you can.

Quote:

They did it. They actually voted to initiate the repeal of net neutrality.

On a party-line vote, the FCC voted for the first step of Chairman Ajit Pai's plan to hand control of the internet to giant telecom corporations.

Comcast and Verizon may have won this battle, but they have not won the war.

Today's vote was just the first step in the FCC's rule-making process. We have until July 17 to put as much pressure as possible not only on the FCC, but also on Congress and the White House, to keep net neutrality rules in place.

The reason we can stop this plan is because gutting net neutrality is massively unpopular. So many people have made online comments against this plan that the FCC's website crashed.

We need to make sure that Republicans in the House, Senate, and White House all understand that if the FCC goes forward with handing over control of the internet to Comcast and their big telecom brethren, they will be held accountable.

We have 60 days to keep net neutrality front and center in the political spotlight.

Thanks for standing with us,

David Segal, Demand Progress
