You totally rock! This one's phenomenal indeed. I'm not sure I would call it ambient, though - all things instrumental get labeled "ambient" these days... Anyway, this was initially a single-sided 12" (with "Grafts" in three movements), and last year it was reissued with an extra track ("Undo) on the flip. Get everything else she's done, man, you won't regret it (plus, you won't be overwhelmed: five releases since 2012...).

this keeps getting better with relistens

Something ... I wanna say late 3rd quarter to early 4th quarter 2019. So roughly 1 1/4 years.

thanks! i liked it on first listen then things got hectic or who knows then recently i was brought back to it by the great videos and now it's making its way back into my daily rotations and suddenly it's a fresh surprise now with the time to listen.

I'd say it's ambient indeed - you've got many techniques natural to ambient music present in this record + it' soothing as fuck.

anyway, screw genres, it's a good work of art and that's what counts.

Nah I was just kidding, the joke being that it’s very obviously MBDTF, regardless of the cover

Just a bituva Dome thing.

Savage Clone 01.18.2021 12:53 AM

Dome were so great!! I also love how commercially suicidal that project was at the time. Excellent music that barely anybody would like. Underrated!

It's also impressive how, if you mix Dome with what Colin Newman was doing solo (with Robert Grey/Gotobed on drums, though) at the same time, you get exactly 154. :)

This is a really good album indeed.

I love the cover art, too. In this image it’s from a distance, but it’s pretty striking when it fills the screen.

Antagon 01.22.2021 11:21 AM

That bass and them drums though...

I can't figure this place out. Lana sucks but Bruce is ok.

Anyway, I fucking love what Springsteen has done over the last 3 years. He is on a winning streak, imho.

I’m a few songs into this stellar live Banyan set from 2001: Perkins- drums/Flea- bass/Watt- bass/Waldman- trumpet/Wisdom- paint/(didn’t catch the name of the sax player).

Tunes include, but are not limited to:
Fun House
My Favorite Things
A Love Supreme
(Maybe some Miles “Sketches Of Spain” tunes?)

Skuj 01.24.2021 03:49 PM

It's funny that I was recently talking about Springsteen / Lana Del Rey, because recently, in a fit of delirium, Springsteen talked about Lana Del Rey....

the guys sez: "I just love her writing. It’s cinematic."

so he's talking about lyrics, yeah?

i understand that, but lyrics are not music.

maybe i'll just read her lyrics and spare my ears. same as one can do with springsteen :D

I think when people talk about "writing a song", they are not talking only about lyrics, generally speaking.

When Springsteen said that he listened to Norman Fucking Rockwell, I don't think he ignored everything but the words that were sang.

(Slow news day, huh?)

Skuj 01.24.2021 05:02 PM

BTW, I am listening to Norman Fucking Rockwell.
