If you don’t know the name Angel Marcloid, I highly recommend you get familiar with them!

Best I can tell there is no clear definition for vaporwave. From what I’ve heard, only a few things stand out. No doubt Angel Marcloid performs vaporwave type music, but their mastering & remixing for other artist on stuff I love is growing!

i dunno honestly
the best thing is that i actually enjoy this song

Savage Clone 05.26.2020 07:01 AM

The vaporwave stuff is a little too lightweight for me but I definitely enjoy the classic outrun and darksynth sides of synthwave (although that last one can have too much 90s industrial or dubstep elements for my taste sometimes, when it's done well it's really great). It's been fun venturing into that territory and it's a very deep rabbit hole. for my own work in this area I'm going to try to bring in a little more of an old school electro element to it and vary the drum beats a little more. Bringing the influence of Paul hardcastle, Cybotron Detroit alongside the italo/hi NRG stuff. Kind of cool to see that kind of thing being talked about on here, didn't think too many people here would be interested.

Not long after the quarantine started, back in March when it was nice and cool outside, I sat out on the porch and listened to this one evening. I just love how Jerry sings:

Inside the museums, infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles…

The following day, I re-listened to the tracks and their live companions from: at budokan, before the flood, royal albert bootleg 66 and the last waltz......what a trip that was!

pretty much this week for now

NYCgaf16 06.19.2020 02:18 AM

cool Polish band, i don't know how to describe their music, so i will just say it's underground noise, kinda early black-metal, and lirically no-wave (for me)

_tunic_ 06.19.2020 03:37 AM

Listening to a great sounding Sebadoh set that's been shared on Dime this morning (morning in my timezone ;-) and trying out to puzzle the setlist together at the same time, 45 tracks, and I'm halfway there the HORROR.

_tunic_ 06.20.2020 02:48 PM

Public Enemy's new single is great, despite my general dislike of hiphop/rap/etc! STFU!!!

I was just reading about it and just gave it a spin - FUCKING GREAT. Looks like Chuck and Flava made peace just when we needed them to. Free download, by the way!

The Soup Nazi 06.20.2020 03:21 PM

Previously I was listening to Hans-Joachim Roedelius' "Sketches 1-4" of "By This River", the impossibly beautiful song on Brian Eno's Before And After Science.

Talk about a 180º! (Musically, not politically - I'm sure Mr. Roedelius also wants the Dotard to shut the fuck up).
