It's my favourite SY album.

Great album.

I tend to think of it as one of the absolute essentials, and one of the best from start to finish. There are no blemishes on this record.

Also, it manages to be jammy, spacey, classy and noisey/punky, sometimes all at once. How many other albums do that? I still don’t really get how the balance was so perfectly struck, but this album is goddamn amazing.

I've said it a billion times and I'll say it a billion more until everyone agrees: Thurston is one of the truly great melody writers in rock--and ESPECIALLY in this subgenre where melody isn't always a major consideration.

"The Empty Page" is one of his finer works. It's catchy, emotional and you can whistle it in the shower. Can't ask for more.

And yes Murray Street is majestic. I mean who doesn't love Karen Revisited? Brilliant track, and that's to say nothing of Rain On Tin, The Empty Page, and Disconnection Notice. OK, so Radical Adults and Plastic Sun are disposable. Sympathy For the Strawberry is also a good tune.

Manson's 'white trash' era was so amusing. Also the riffs on this album fuckin slap. What the hell kinda pedals are used on this thing? Trent Reznor's production with all the hellish screams in the background are also another favorite on display here. Maybe the band's best, although I'm partial to Holy Wood.
