hey! I was thinking of buying this one too. is it any good? what can you do with that?

Sonic Youth Gossip 10.18.2009 04:54 AM

yeah how flexible is it in terms or programming? it's more than just presets....right?

SYRFox 10.18.2009 05:08 AM

From what I've seen so far, it's awesome. Looks like you can do pretty much anything you want, so far I've worked on ambient sounds, or glitch hop or minimal techno rhythms, etc. I was kind of afraid that it would be hard to program due to the lack of controllers (basically when you program you're just using the transparent controller on the right) but after a few hours of using it it already becomes instinctive, I know where to find this or this thing. The programming of sounds itself is more complex though as there are tons of things to program, but you can quickly create something that'll please you - with potential to do much better with the time, of course.
I'm really really enjoying it. The Setups mode (which combines programs, rhythms, etc) looks really promising.

nice nice.

here's the first track i wrote with it: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ym2tmrzwmcd
obviously it's just a rough demo, and i've only had the synth for three days, but at least you get to hear something :D everything was made with the micron - i programmed the sounds myself

after a few days of using it i'm really, really enjoying it. it's far more instinctive that i thought it would be seeing as you mostly do everything with one button. the concepts are quite easy to get and there are tons of shortcuts which let you do everything easily.

Chris Clark is my god

shabbray2.0 11.01.2009 08:02 AM

shabbray2.0 11.01.2009 08:24 AM

the only thing I am whining about from my account deletion are my PMs and the threads I saved.

_slavo_ 11.01.2009 08:35 AM

yeah, that sucks.
ask chabib if he can do something about it, hm?

shabbray2.0 11.01.2009 08:37 AM

I already tried that over nicfit. he wrote him for me, but unfortunately no reply (from chabib) so its lost I think. the reply was the thing I was waiting for all the time before reregistering

SYRFox 11.01.2009 01:28 PM

shabbraaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyy

Hey fox how have you been?

stu666 11.01.2009 08:13 PM

welcome back shabbaranks2.0

SYRFox 11.02.2009 04:38 AM

I've been fine! Seen lots of gigs (including Clark and Dälek!), bought my synth (eheh), etc. I've been on holidays for one week and a half now so I'm in slacking mode ahah (though I've only got three days left.. boohoo)
What about you?

shabbray2.0 11.02.2009 08:45 AM

@stu: yesss I am back, it was time to reregister after I lost all hope to get my old nick back...

@fox: my semester started a few weeks ago I am working on a pretty cool project where I will make some bumpers for an online musicvideostation. you remember these MTV bumpers? in this format but it will be more artsy fartsy I think. beneath that I got some theory classes.
I am most of the time in Hannover now where my girlfriend got her appartment with a freind of her, and because the city is by far bigger then where my appartment is we are here for about 90% of our time, I think.
the only thing I really miss because of that is my beloved car, hrhrhr but that sleeps well in its garage...
I bought myself a ixus 100 is and I am going mad bout taking pictures of almost anything, hrhrhrhr

SYRFox 11.02.2009 09:34 AM

Eheh, sounds neat! I missed your signature ahah
This thread has had more activity in 24 hours than in the past month!

I'm currently struggling to choose a mixing table... I'm hesistating between those mofos:

The Mackie is technically the best one, but since I only have to plug in a laptop and a synth (possibly more later, but for the moment that's it), I won't need preamps and stuff, so the EDIROL might fit better; and the Xenyx is really cheaper... damn :D

shabbray2.0 11.02.2009 09:45 AM

what happened to the board? why is nothing happened. since I reregistered its like always for me.

and yes mackie is a sure shot, always!

I don't really know, I've been kind of away too for a while because of too much work at school (entered Hypokhâgne this year and I've got quite a lot of work to do...), and when I've been back for real everyone was like the board is dead blablabla. I guess you haven't missed much. :D

that's what i've heard... which would lead me to buy it, but I'm not sure I need all those things... for the moment that's the one i'm willing to buy anyway

_slavo_ 11.02.2009 01:23 PM

I have the Xenyx1002 and it works well for me. many people keep bitching about Behringer mixes but I don't see the point - mine is perfecty all right.

SYRFox 11.02.2009 01:48 PM

Really? There's no hiss then? I might consider buying this one as it's cheaper...

shabbray2.0 11.03.2009 09:04 AM

after I killed my 8tracks HD I needed to improvise, which sucked at first time, but is okay now. I am even too lazy to buy a new HD for it, cause it works without it. limitations often enhance your creative thinkin. but sometimes they suck of course.
so my advice, think first what you are going to do before buying new equipment (I am faster with buying if I got money, then its necessary...). will you record a lot of sources at the same time or will you layer your sounds?

btw here my last two recent tunes:
http://soundcloud.com/catsleeph/milkwater
http://soundcloud.com/catsleeph/funny_for_nic

would like to hear every opinion who likes to tune in :)
(nic already said me what he thinks, thanks again)

yesterday I dressed myself as a douchebag at a H&M store to take pics of it...unbelievably embarissing, but funny as fuck. highly recommend this if you are bored :)
pics will follow

_slavo_ 11.03.2009 02:46 PM

the tunes are fucking cool, dude. I love them both.

SYRFox 11.03.2009 04:19 PM

Yeah, they're really cool! I especially enjoy Milkwater (I had already heard Funny For Nic, actually!), it's really great.
al, have you heard dorian concept's album? i think you would love it

thanks to you too!!!
and no, havent checked it yet, but will do so!!!

SYRFox 11.03.2009 06:34 PM

You really should, especially since you liked the Nosaj Thing album. Dorian Concept's one is my second favorite of the year (after the Animal Collective one...), it's just mindblowing. He's one hell of a synthplayer, too

shabbray2.0 11.03.2009 06:35 PM

will do will do!!!!! :)

_slavo_ 11.03.2009 07:14 PM

guys, what do you think about my latest effort?

check this out, made it 20 minutes ago (actually, it's the exact reproduction of one part of my last week's gig)

http://rapidshare.com/files/302078158/Waves.mp3

what do you think about the sound production? any layer that should be louder/quieter? any feedback appreciated.

shabbray2.0 11.04.2009 04:27 AM

I am loading.
give me a few hours, dont know when I can pull out my headphones for long enough here, :)

SYRFox 11.04.2009 05:01 AM

downloading too

shabbray2.0 11.04.2009 05:19 AM

I listened to the first 5 minutes, and I love it. the voices go perfectly with the sounds. what a wakeup call!!!

btw slavo you got a new myspace friend, if you still run the site :)

SYRFox 11.04.2009 06:08 AM

(I've received my CD of Jesquibel by Mise En Abyme ! I'm so happy, I love this record, one of my favorites from this decade. It's really great, check it out if you want some neat experimental pop)

_slavo_ 11.04.2009 07:54 AM

thanks al shabbray. i really am pretty satisfied with this effort.
what do you think about the production? decent? shit?

shabbray2.0 11.04.2009 10:27 AM

I will be back in one or two hours, then I wil give it another listen with my beloved headphones. after that I will tell you!
I only listened via 10 bucks crap phones here at the university. over them it sounds decent, which is a good sign I think.
thanks for being interested in my opinion in that :)
