Some of demonrail666's posts reminded me of this (very long) interview with Everett True on the subject of Riot Grrrl.

I just skimmed that and I'll read it properly later but I think Everet True pretty much nails it. He seems to be written off by a lot of people but, during that period anyway, he was probably the writer best placed to understand that scene and definitely did more than any of other to promote it.

His point about music being a distraction is especially interesting.

Have you paid any attention to anything he's ever posted on this board other than his pictures? He's always been a smart-arsed cunt. Which is arguably worse as he's such a handsome swine.

I've always thought he was a smart and interesting writer. I don't get why peopel write him off. He was sort of pompous and assholish, but people on this site fucking read PITCHFORK and therefore have no right to complain about that.
