prefuse 73 had those 2 good albums, didn't they? "One Word Extinguisher" and "Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives"
I'm not that sure about the later output, though.

prefuse 73 can be hit and miss but generally he is really good ad also excellent live if you get the chance.

SYRFox 06.22.2009 02:57 AM

Prefuse 73 I love already! His latest album (Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian) is in my top 3 of the year, I find it so great. He's playing in Paris next week with both Prefuse 73 and Diamond Watch Wrists (his project with Zach Hill of Hella, which is also great), I'd like to go ...

al shabbray 06.22.2009 12:43 PM

well I only know Diamond Watch Wrists, but I certainly like it. Quite not you would expect from that collab though

al shabbray 06.22.2009 05:53 PM

savath and savallas is pretty different too. folky, spanish songs, which make lyric wise no sense most of the time. but they make a warm feeling inside my stomach. I like it, not everytime, but truly beautiful moments. its insane in how much styles this guy is good in

SYRFox 06.23.2009 12:11 AM

truth!
have you heard about his new project, that risil collective? the first album will be out in a month and it apparently involves tyondai braxton (battles...), john mcentire (tortoise), zach hill (hella), puyuelo muns (savath and savallas), alejandra deheza and benjamin curtis(school of seven bells). three albums are already announced, with the lineup being different on each one.

(more on this here: http://pitchfork.com/news/35612-pref...il-collective/)

i think it sounds awesome, can't wait to hear it.

july sounds like a rad month... new clark, new oneida (triple album!), that risil collective, the new rainbow arabia ep...

So I went to see Depeche Mode yesterday and it was like a giant warp into my 80s childhood ... all those great old hits (Never Let Me Down Again, Strangelove, Master and Servant, Fly on the Windscreen, Waiting for the Night, Walking in my Shoes, Enjoy the Silence, etc etc) and Dave seemed to be in a great shape and form and sang very well ... wonderful concert!!!

al shabbray 06.24.2009 08:06 PM

anyways, there was a MASSIVE downpour, i was soaking wet, but the atmosphere was awesome and I danced and jumped all over the place in the rain. Even both Dave and Martin said we were a wonderful and intense audience.

al shabbray 06.25.2009 10:37 AM

^^^with rain it sounds even greater.
I think that fits perfectly for a DM gig, was it still warm enough? I hope so

al shabbray 06.28.2009 12:49 PM

hey thread regulars.
whats your opinions bout the eternal?

I managed to skip almost anything about till 3 days ago.
and I start to love this album, it seems to be what Ive thought rather ripped would be after reading about it and being highly disappointed afterwards...

SYRFox 06.28.2009 12:56 PM

I'm really enjoying it as well (I liked Rather Ripped though)
There are a few tunes I am not really into (Antenna...), but there are enough excellent ones (Anti-Orgasm, What We Know) to make for it; and overall I think it flows very well. I really like it

al shabbray 06.28.2009 01:03 PM

I am totally getting used to this la-la popiness, which at first sight seemed a lil bit cheesy to me, but I like it, its really growing on me, and yes, my favourite track so far is anti-orgasm, too, that alone is a hell of 6 minutes, theres everything good and old SY in there plus the new popiness and all three singers. what more can I want? :)

what me argues the most bout RR were those cheesy leadguitars and the sometimes too monotone pop-drumming.
I liked a lot about it, some great moments, but overall the most weak SY album for me.
like I said before eternal sounds for me how I imagined RR before listening to it

stu666 06.28.2009 01:13 PM

I love the eternal and have been playing it everday since buying it. Still not sure what my favourite track is yet, it's all good. I'm glad you got yours ok shabba and that you like it too.

al shabbray 06.28.2009 01:15 PM

oooh I love it so far. I really was afraid that it would be RR2 for me. its by far my less played SY record and I tried it for at least 10 times to love it, even on concerts the RR tracks bored me to hell.

and now I cant stop listening to the eternal and looking forward to the berlin gig like mad, want to hear this record on full-live-blast

SYRFox 06.28.2009 01:32 PM

I won't have the chance to see them unfortunately :( but hey, I'm already seeing Animal Collective (3rd time in one year!), Fuck Buttons and Deerhoof at the Dour Festival in July, and then Mahjongg, Mr Oizo and Puppetmastaz in August at Les Nuits Secrètes, so I guess I can't have everything.
(by the way I'm super excited about Animal Collective - though I've already seen them twice -, Mahjongg or Mr Oizooooooooooo - I love him -)

atsonicpark 06.28.2009 01:58 PM

Why the fuck do I keep arguing with myself in the reflection of the cardboard box that I fixed up to look like a television set? I will rant and rave for 5 minutes straight at my own reflected image, and the ending soliloquy will always be the same: me bequeathing my social disgust and anger that I have cultivated, refined, monumentalized, and I am gagging on. God is just an idea spawned from an opium den, you FUCK... Sometimes, I like to listen to the waves crashing with one hand resting in a bed of steamed soybean pods and ice, while gently masticating a live roach. I note that it's best to dial down the lights to dim, if not completely off, and to have my trusty neighbor, the Laotian nail clipper with fangs, come over in her teddy and purr like a small engine.... Upon this rock will I build my church...... God, I love me some fucking whores... those FUCK ING WHORES.... you know... there's always that fucking moment when they promise themselves that they'll never fuck a married man again... their imprisoned soul is supposed to be freed... and endless repetitions of this same redemptive act are supposed to unfold across the astral plane, liberating thousands in the same transformative transcendental way that Buddha's fire sermon or Christ's death on the cross did for us all...

_slavo_ 06.28.2009 02:00 PM

I just discovered Fursaxa.
And thank God there's finally some music that I find exciting again.

stu666 06.28.2009 02:03 PM

Yes, fursaxa = fucking excellent.

watch out for yourself, nefeli.

I'm planning to try decaf or stop drinking coffee at all, because I feel it does no good to me. i mean, i've always love that caffeine buzz since I think my body is pretty sensitive to it and i can get pretty hyped up, but recently i started to feel like shit after drinking the same amount of coffee that I always used to drink ... not physically, but emotionally or whatever. i'm all shaking and trembling and react too nervously. which is indeed, not really cool.

btw, are you planning to go to the Nightmare before Xmas festival?
