reccomend me a nice superfuzz copy? does anyone here build pedals?

anyways, if i find an affordable sf copy i might buy that and throw the ds1 out of my pedalboard.

LDopa 03.09.2007 05:27 PM

I just have a muff and a digitech pedal. I use my amps set distortion a lot though. I sounds nice with an echoey effect from the digitech and the preset distortion. Very MBVish.

CHOUT 03.11.2007 05:49 AM

Bought this used today:

Looks like a true bypass box- effect sends/returns so you can hook up effects that are not true bypass to it and use it instead to bypass them so that they won't bleed or take away high end when they are off.

king_buzzo 03.11.2007 03:16 PM

any rat2 or turbo rat soundlcips? post it here now. now! now!

king_buzzo 03.12.2007 02:46 PM

bump you bitch

drrrtyboots 03.12.2007 03:32 PM

http://www.ratdistortion.com/soundsamples.php?pedal=2

sound sampler for all the rat pedals my friend.

drrrtyboots 03.12.2007 03:35 PM

and if you want an opinion, id pick the turbo over the rat2 almost anyday for a more straight up fuzz, very thick and just straight up awesome.

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 03:07 AM

no i've seen the clips on their webstite and it sounds crap cause theres no options and different kinda sound clips.

well, i have about half the money for the delay...

next step 03.14.2007 03:44 AM

hey King_Buzzo, guardian of the board, I have to say that the TRat allows alot of kind of different configutarionts and so kind of sounds, well it's definitely more powered then the RAT taht is more deflate and not a fuzzzy though.
About the delay, ask to SpectralJulianIsNotDead something about the SAD3 cause should be great as the SAD1 and allow to make feedback noise too. otherwise get a PDS1002, I got mine for just 50$ plus shipment and it's good as a classical delay/loop very warm to be digital but no awesome feedbacks. It creates background feedbacks with an other delay before though!

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 03:46 AM

yeah i already decided which one, the carl martin red repeat. its really close to an analog one and it osciliates amazingly well.

just need to get the 70 extra euros i need.

next step 03.14.2007 03:48 AM

well that's cool, so have fun with the red repeat!!

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 03:50 AM

yeah but its gonna take so much time to get it.... anyways, i got 30 euros sent back from an online shop i ordered something from. awesome.

i need to get a small stone phaser.

but i need mroe dirt, ds1 is being an asshole and i cant do much with a bb by itself without some good dirt to support it. so i might get a trat or a superfuzz clone after,

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 11:48 AM

okay anyways, is which rat is closer to the mbv sound?

demonrail666 03.14.2007 12:24 PM

I'd say the standard ProcoRat would do the trick.

Buzzo, you might want to look at one of these. Probably the sickest pedal available at the moment.

Check out the background music on this link for a taster.

I could do with some advice... I've been playing for a while and all that but i'm ashamed to say that sound and all that is something that i've never really got into so much, but its starting to come to a time where i need to know a little more because im never happy with what i get.
My set up at the moment is a telecaster-->russian big muff reissue-->Boss DD-6---> peavy bandit amp
Ive got a double muff too which i like for rhythm playing but its got fucked.. My main problem is im looking for a "wall of sound" and i dont know why i just cant get it out of my big muff - there's like no sustain from it and i get a more satifactory result from the amps lead channel.
I'd like some wisdom.

okay you gotta boost the muff with another pedal to get wall of sound.

a fender blender is a nice solution, some people say that its really a noise motherfucker, you certanly need a boost infront for more sustain.

what kinda specific sound?

what settings are on your muff?

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 03:00 PM

demon rail i know what a meathead is but i dont want it.

I'm definatly looking for a more noisy sound but kind of like a dino jr thing. - another thing is i want to be able to do switch between lead and rhythm playing sometimes but without fiddling with a volume pedal or totally fucking everything up so would a blender help with that?
and the setting on my muff are normally, i think, volume all the way up and sustain pretty much the same and then the tone around the 12 o clock(probably a bit more like 3) point.

king_buzzo 03.14.2007 04:05 PM

j's distortion/fuzz pedals are:
vintage muff
vintage muff
superfuzz
germania treble boost
bluebox

j's sound is basically a muff with softer settings and another muff with all knobs of full, then he uses a univox superfuzz or the germania to boost solos and such.

heres an interview http://www.freesofree.net/digging_up_bones/

and heres a quote from a person who managed to re-create his tone

Quote:

I think i've finally figured out the mystery to j's fuzz. You first need an american big muff with the sustain and volume at 10 and the tone at about 1 o'clock and a superfuzz coming after it set on the treblier fuzz and have that cranked to 10. to get the wah sound he has i use a vox wah and put it after the muff and the fuzz and run a russian big muff that has everything on 10. Also the key is to use a decent tube amp with the reverb cranked to 10 and you should have "j's tone"

thats his try.

there was also talk that he had a custom made box to drop the volume of his muff by 50%

auto-aim 03.14.2007 08:02 PM

I think i'm going to check out that fender blender reading up on it now. The sustain is really important to me so it appeals and if i can make a mess with it too.
Thanks for the mascis info too!

CHOUT 03.15.2007 02:39 AM

Big Muffs are known for their sustain and 'wall of sound'ness...which one do you have?

Another option is running a compressor before your fuzz...that will add sustain and you can also use it as a boost. I've done it and it works...got a compressor right here waiting to be built...

Remember that the Fender Blender is an OCTAVE (up) fuzz - it sounds horrible with most chords, and you cant turn the octave sound off. Speaking from the experience of having one, I wouldn't say it's what you are looking for...and a Danelectro French Toast is a similar and better sounding octave fuzz to my ears for way cheaper than the Fender Blender.

king_buzzo 03.15.2007 09:07 AM

i dont like the french toast. its kinda standard soundish.

Have you ever played one, or are you just going by other people's opinions? Standard?

king_buzzo 03.15.2007 01:23 PM

sound clips. its not the sound i like. high gain fuzz pwns, like superfuzz. amazing

king_buzzo 03.15.2007 02:55 PM

hahaah

scott v 03.15.2007 06:27 PM

i prefer the Dunlop Hendrix Octave fuzz over the danelectro frnech toast, though you can turn off the octave if you want and keep the drive, and for the price its actually really good, the Hendrix Octave fuzz is at least twice as much as a french toast.

Never played one, but I've played a few other octave fuzz pedals and some of them sound too tame compared to the FT. I'll have to check one out.

king_buzzo 03.16.2007 06:26 AM

My Vox Tonelab SE:

I'm so ashamed, this is the only effect/pedal i have for my guitars, and even worse it's a multieffect. But it's more than nothing, and to make noise with it's kinda fun.
Though i must say that the wah-wah really sucks. There is absolutley no depth in the sound and it just sounds lame. I'm thinking about buying the Zakk Wylde signature CryBaby. Any advices or suggestions?

demonrail666 03.18.2007 10:39 AM

I'm looking for something to stick either behind or in front of my Rat. I'm looking for something that easily generates a lot of harsh Wolf Eyes, Pussy Galore style feedback between playing. My old Thrashmaster used to be ideal for that kind of thing, but it broke and Dodd have since stopped making them.

very nice, played it once, its sounds very good for a multieffect. very very realistic sounds.

anyways i wouldnt spend the money on the zakk wylde crybaby, i'd either choose a vox wah or a budda wah. theyre really cool .
