I wonder whether the download code will be mp3-only. If that's the case, I'll just have to pony up the coins and get the FLACs from Bandcamp.

The Shape Of Things is an indispensable Ubu document, with Laughner still in the band. Get it! |
Alan Sparhawk collaborates on Teague Alexy's new EP. I stole the following info from Teague Alexy's official facebook:
Ten minutes long and ten years in the making - The Wisdom of King Joe Colli featuring Alan Sparhawk, Charlie Parr and The Feelin Band featuring Nicholas David. The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is the first story in Teague Alexy's book - The New Folklore: Lyrical Tales for Dreamers & Thinkers (North Star Press). The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is the newest musical release from Teague Alexy’s book The New Folklore: Lyrical Tales for Dreamers & Thinkers. The Wisdom of King Joe Colli features Teague Alexy singing the part of narrator, Alan Sparhawk (Low, Retribution Gospel Choir) singing the multi-faceted part of King Joe Colli and Charlie Parr as the evil Don Von Braughan. The music is performed by The Feelin Band with Nicholas David on grand piano, Jeff Engholm on upright bass & horns, Paul Grill on drums, Teague Alexy on acoustic guitar & harmonica and Ryan Young (Trampled By Turtles) on violins & viola. Described by Teague Alexy as “an attempt to blur poetry and magic,” The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is over ten minutes long and ten years in the making. Alexy's modern folktales are told in the tradition of magical realism; nonsensical on the surface, with strong underlying truths. ‘King Joe’ features drama, humor, lively characters, foreshadowing, complex rhyme schemes and clever wordplay in the unfamiliar context of an extended indie-Americana pop song. The transcendent voices of Alan Sparhawk and Charlie Parr help place the tale in its timeless setting. The Wisdom of King Joe Colli is available on iTunes, Spotify and other digital music outlets. The Wisdom of King Joe Colli EP features three other musical versions of stories from The New Folklore book performed by Teague Alexy and The Feelin Band - Old Lady Truth, Three Little Fish and How Lefty Stepanovich Turned Water Into Wine. “The stories are delightful and entertaining for all ages,” says Curtis Weinrich of publisher North Star Press. “The illustrations are a feast for the eyes and the music for the ears, but the stories are clearly intended for the heart and soul.” https://youtu.be/C2zV_dZn_FE |

Sounds very cool. Speaking of, a sweet 2008 Charlie Parr + Black Twig Pickers show (soundboard + audience matrix) is still alive on Dime: Charlie Parr w/ The Black Twig Pickers - 2008-09-07, The Turf Club, St. Paul (Matrix: 80% SBD / 20% AUD) |

I want to make it to this tour! The previous UK Xmas with Ida was the best shows I ever saw of Low (well, some of the other s were pretty brilliant as well, but you know what I mean).
But it looks like this tour is all in churches?! Quote:

Nice. Gotta find some way to capture it... |

support for the Xmas tour will be Gaelynn Lee (at least on the Ireland dates, there's no info yet for the support in e.g. London), and she'll probably join Low during the main set well, similar to Ida in 2008. Hopefully they'll bring some more people e.g. Eric Pollard
never imagined there would ever be a chance to see Murder Of Crows live in anywhere in Europe ... I might be heading to Ireland :-) oh, and there's a 2nd date added for London on the 6th. The 1st nite is sold out |

I was not. NOT! I gave up on "capturing it", actually, and then just tried to "record it", but that didn't fly either... Someone here's gotta be able to do it! |
