yea, man. the game is pretty hilarious.
the outdated answers just add to the fun.

never played WOF 64, but i'm always a fan of the SNES version.

Wow. Went to an Arcade. It was fantastic. PLayed SF 2,3, 4(a super lot..I'm diggin' Yun and Ibuki), Alpha 3, MVC3, MVC2, Sunset Riders, and others that escape me at the moment.(Oh Police Trainer too!). This place has a shit ton of old school games and an amazing amount of fighting games. All Sf's. All KoF, Tekken 6, mucho more. The best part...you pay $15 at the door and all games are free....and it's open till 2am. This place is pretty gosh darn awesome.

An extremely fun, extremely adult RPG made by some polish company based on a polish fantasy book series. You play Geralt, an amnesiac monster slayer mutant (hence the title 'witcher') where he goes on a quest to recover his memories and solve another encompassing mystery.

The game has it's typical fantasy staple of elves, dwarves, and so on. But the setting and mood are anything but. The game seems much more interested in topics of racism, classism, politics, religion, etc. than it is in dragons and fairies.

The bestiary in the game is huge, at least it feels huge. The diversity of monsters encounter is pretty intense. Man eating plants, slug creatures, gargoyle looking things, wyverns, undead goblin things, demon dogs, golems, werewolves (mentioned, not seen yet), a cockatrice, a four legged spider thing, and a bunch of other stuff I forgot.

And the large bestiary isn't interesting only because of the diversity of different stuff to kill, but for the different ingredients the creatures drop, which can be used for potion brewing, which gives a ridiculous amount of variety to your character. Ranging from the typical restoring health, curing poison, to wildly helpful such as seeing in the dark (which you will need) and seeing invisible opponents.

You advance your character via a talent tree, which though not particularly wowing, at the very least functions competently which is more than enough to ask for. The combat system is focused largely around chaining combos with your sword attacks (Geralt has no ranged attacks aside from some spells) via mouse clicking when the cursor turns to flames. Which could sound a little boring or maybe easy, but it's anything but, the game is hard and you will die from time to time. What adds more strategy to the combat is the different sword styles you can adopt, which boil down to strong, quick, and group. They are all necessary so you won't be hogging the fast style or anything, and to add one final layer of complexity, there are two sword types (steel and silver) to juggle when in combat, one is particularly effective on humanoids, while the other is more suited for monsters. Pretty good concepts really.

Final note, the game is kind of sexist really. Though none of the women are really portrayed as stupid or bumbling or particularly inept, almost ALL of them are whores (with a couple of exceptions) and with minimal effort will have sex with you haha. I'm about a 1/3 through the game and I've had sex with probably six or seven different women. Perhaps this is to illustrate some dark ages status quo. The truly funny thing about the sex though is after each girl you lay, you get this nude playing card of the girl. Kind of weird, funny, whatever.

All in all, incredible game, great story, combat, themes, the dialogue is clunky at times, but forgivable. There's so much to do it's insane. It's a jam.

What place is this? I'm very intrigued.

EVOLghost 06.21.2011 02:05 PM

it's called Galloping Ghost. privately owned I guess....But I fell in love with that place. I'll be going more often.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 06.21.2011 06:51 PM

I went to GameStop today to pick up Blast Works (Wii), but they lacked a copy with the original case, so I nearly left empty-handed. That is, until SEGA Superstars Tennis caught my eye.

It plays out exactly how you would expect - a cross between a Mario Tennis clone (from the guys who brought you Virtua Tennis, mind you) and a love letter to SEGA's glory days as a hardware developer. I'm enjoying it so far. It handles nice, the courts look great, the mini-games are fun, and the SEGA universe is a much-appreciated change of pace from Nintendo's similar franchise.

i never play my ps3 anymore. its not even plugged in. i can get portal 2 for the pc so who cares right?

i completed metal gear and gta for it and so theres fuck all else since i dont have the time for longass rpgs that arent zelda

I would try selling it all first. You'll make much more money than you would trading it in for piss water.

The 3DS is just in its infancy right now, and the library seems pretty limited, but there's a whole slew of titles coming out for it. Ironic, how Nintendo made the exact same mistake with the 3DS as they did with the DS. But just look at how amazing the DS library is now! Which you would also gain access to if you don't already own a regular DS, due to 3DS backwards compatibility.

Check out the Nintendo E3 press conference, you will be assured that you absolutely need to trade in your PoS3 for your brand new 2011 handheld. Nintendo is going to kick so much ass this generation, I can just feel it.

I remember you ranting long ago (ni'k days) about how much you missed how fun, and exciting games used to be and how bland everything is now since the industry changed focus. I think the 3DS will be much better suited to your demands as a gamer if you still feel that way. I know I do, and Nintendo has NEVER let me down with any of their consoles/handhelds... and they just keep getting crazier.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 06.21.2011 07:20 PM

The only other confirmed 3D remake is Starfox 64. Although when asked about remaking any more Zeldas, Miyamoto said the only one he would be interested in doing is A Link to the Past, and also added that he wasn't too interested in 3D remakes overall.

EVOLghost 06.21.2011 08:13 PM

I would never part with my ps3....but I understand where you're comin' from. New games suck.

noisereductions 06.21.2011 08:57 PM

I don't know, I keep finding new awesome PS3 games.

BTW, which E3 were watching Joe? Nintendo's looking to revisit their N64/GameCube balance sheet days.

ironic that i'm going for the 3DS just for that game again.

but yeah - i got a ps3 and i am very dissapointed with it. there are less games than i thought. less games worth playing. i'm sure there will be ps3's that go for like 60quid second hand in a few years time, so i could always buy one then and go through all the old games i missed out on.

anyway - this e3 vid is good. are they planning on releasing majoras mask 3d and twilight princess maybe?

While a re-release of my favourite game of all time is tempting, I think I'll stick to my n64 cartridge and my gamecube disc.

I'm curious as to what the differences will be though besides obvious graphics updates.

EVOLghost 06.23.2011 01:31 PM

Hmmm.....I haven't played Ocarina is such a long fucking time. But...I already have a DSLite and I don't have steady income currently so.......I think I'll pass. I've always wanted to play Master Quest.....I think I'll just borrow my friends Wii and game.....hopefully......

3D Dot Game Heroes - best Zelda game since Wind Waker.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift - did you like Guilty Gear? Well here ya go! HD 2D.

Cross Edge - a weird RPG that has Darkstalkers characters in it. So cute but super-deep combat system. Sort of like Namco X Capcom but bigger.

Mamoru-kun - a brand new shmup, only released in Japan so far. Kind of like a Pocky & Rocky thing. Beautiful backgrounds. Last night I rode on the back of a manta ray and used rabits to shoot lazers at octopi who were driving big boats. Yes!

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 - so far, my game of the year.

then there's PSN stuff... HD/online versions of MVC2, Supre Puzzle Fighter, etc. There's more. Ican't think.

OH Catherine is out next year. I'm guessing that could end up being GOTY possibly. Looks amazing.

EVOLghost 06.23.2011 02:56 PM

3d Dot heroes....Hmm I forgot about that one. My friend had it and yes....it looks like Zelda.

Blazblue...more like blaz-eww. No thanks.

I'll look up CrossEdge.

Mamoru-kun sounds fun as hell.

MVC3 pissed me off...The amount of characters is pathetic. I don't get it. Why would you TAKE OUT! characters in the sequel?

(No PSN stuff for me yet)

And I'm still waiting on Catherine.

noisereductions 06.23.2011 05:00 PM

what don't you like about BlazBlue? It's a 2D fighter. Great sprite work. Did you not like Guilty Gear? At first I was iffy on BB, but one run through arcade mode and I was like -- yeah this might be better 'n Guilty Gear.

MVC3 is so so so so so good though. It just plays soooo good. Love it.

EVOLghost 06.23.2011 10:06 PM

I never really got into Guilty Gear either. I've played Blazblue more than Guilty Gear...I dunno...something about blazblue just seemed to easy.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 06.24.2011 03:59 AM

kinnikniknikniknikniknik - you plan on picking up Street Fighter IV or Dead or Alive at all?

Also, from what I've played of it at various kiosks, I really like the way they use the 3d more for depth than eye-popping gimmickry. I definitely know what you mean about not being able to move around too much, which sorta makes the gyroscopic motion control inside kinda foolish on Nintendo's behalf.

noisereductions 06.24.2011 09:09 AM

I really like the way the 3d makes people throw up from motion sickness.

Did they release flash carts for the 3ds yet?

Didn't nintendo also say they're upping the security on the 3ds?

I havent' heard that....but now I really want one!

EVOLghost 07.02.2011 04:21 PM

I've been playing the fuck out of SFA2 since I don't have SF4 AE. Will be getting it soon though. Another thing I want to get is an arcade stick. Holy fuck they're pretty expensive.

I found the SF4 MadCatz stick clearanced out at GS for $30 [shock face]

EVOLghost 07.02.2011 04:59 PM

How is it working for you? I've had a few madkatz controllers....and well I just haven't trusted them since...I've been thinking of svin' up for a cheap Hori stick....

noisereductions 07.02.2011 07:43 PM

Hori's are great. I've owned a few myself. I REALLY like this MC stick though. It's the white one that has SF4 art on it. It's built really well. High praise.

EVOLghost 07.04.2011 03:23 PM

^ Cool. I'm just a bit reluctant to buy one...because I have bad luck with technology for some reason. So Im' afraid my fight stick would stop working after 2 days or something ridiculous....>ESPECIALLY after reading a few reviews....I guess some Hori's haven't been working on PS3. But I still have an older Ps3 and supposedly the problems only occur on the slim.

noisereductions 07.04.2011 08:22 PM

so I love my PS3 so much I'm now saving for a 2nd for the bedroom.

After going to the arcade yesterday and only played SSF4, and Capcom vs SNK 2, I went by my friends and played more video games. More specifically Smash Melee and Brawl. I'm back. My Olimar needs a bit more work...but yeh...

oh and Dr. Eugene, Ummm I don't have a Wii, but we still probably can play a few matches online. My friend lives down the street also has two wii's....so we probably can set something up.
