hah, I came across a link and listened to it tonight and it has a few good songs actually!
of course it's nothing amazing or original, but still surprising to hear them make a somewhat half-decent album after all that time.

Everyneurotic 09.05.2008 07:32 PM

after listening to it.

well, it sounds like metallica which is a good thing, they haven't sound like them since the black album.

i think the album is ok, sound good, has some good riffs and there's nothing really off putting. the songs, however, are lacking; most of it is like a collection of good riffs, i didn't find a single memorable song.

it's ok, but "ok" for metallica is a huge step forward.

pokkeherrie 09.05.2008 07:40 PM

Yeah, it's like going back to the old "Metallica"-Metallica, but without really succeeding, i.e. lacking songs indeed.

Well, that's the verdict after listening once anyway and I don't think many listenings will follow. If I want to listen to Metallica (which rarely happens) then I'll play Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets, but I guess the average Metallica fan will dig it... or at least consider it the best thing they've done in ages.

That was win.

I give the new album about a 7 or 8 on a ten point scale. Not stone cold classic but pretty dang good.

atsonicpark 09.06.2008 06:35 AM

METALLICA rules.

Torn Curtain 09.07.2008 04:47 AM

I'm listening to it and liking it so far.

Derek 09.07.2008 06:00 AM

New album rules. Some of the tracks are iffy but most are actually quite solid.

Norma J 09.07.2008 06:06 AM

I think them going back to the Justice era has paid off for them. they actually sound like Metallica, even though it only has remnants of Justice. the new track kept my interest on first listen. that's a good sign.

Derek 09.07.2008 06:07 AM

The only thing I don't really like is the vocals, it'd be cool as an instrumental record but those don't really shift units.

atsonicpark 09.07.2008 06:51 AM

No one thanked me for uploading it! Ungrateful bastards.

The only song I just hate is unforgiven III.

Seriously, one of the top albums of the year. Mark my words.

Derek 09.07.2008 07:07 AM

Yeah, thanks for uploading that shit.

atsonicpark 09.07.2008 08:03 AM

I was actually kidding.

But now that there's some kind of weird throttling at my isp and it takes like 10 times longer to upload shit than before.. I probably won't be kidding next time ;)

atari 2600 09.07.2008 03:09 PM

Heard some of it last night. Redneck music deluxe, I suppose. They do sound like the old days a bit more than they have of late, so I can see why fans would be excited.

shentov 09.07.2008 03:50 PM

i can't believe this thread is actually serious...
