Hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that anyone anywhere is/was blown away by The Strokes releasing an album AT ANY POINT IN TIME ANYWHERE AT ALL.

It’s easier to wrap my head around that happening in 2001 than it is in 2020.
I mean they’ve released 2 decent records, and like 4 albums that sound exactly like those 2 records, only increasingly less charming.
Somehow they nabbed some new fans this year though. No clue how it works.

The first Strokes record was full of fun and catchy tunes, no doubt about that.

Yeah, it was. Took me a while to warm to it and let my skeptic-guard down, but those tracks are fun as hell and still get stuck in my head often.

Room on Fire was nice for a follow-up too.

Anyway, listened to Fetch the Bolt Cutters and Inlet last night - the former had a very strong stretch in the middle passages, and the latter was very good if fairly plain. Neither is my AOTY, I think, but they're both up there.

New Boris & Merzbow album was insanely good. Very very happy with it.

Sheesh, you bear more grudges than lonely high court judges.

I fucking love what Taylor Swift did this year.

Couldn't agree more with this statement; I found myself listening to Don McLean's 'American Pie' album a lot this year and felt that I shouldn't be enjoying it or admitting to it.
Then i realised I should, its a fucking good album, well written, beautifully performed and stands the test of time.

Taylor has won the year for me.
